Of course it's a Christmas movie. You don't need a fat man in a red suit to make a Christmas movie.

I've always considered this, and 2, to be Christmas movies.
Maybe because the storyline took place on Christmas.

Batman Returns is also a Christmas movie! Miss Gotham Christmas gets impaled on the city Christmas tree.

When I worked in a video store in the 90's, we'd set up a Christmas section and include Die Hard.

I was surprised when I re-watched it last summer how Christmassy it was.

We'd include Batman Returns, Black Christmas, Silent Night Bloody Night, Silent Night Deadly Night, Gremlins, Jack Frost, etc. All the classics.

Yep. It reminds me of renting it during Christmas Break in '88.

It's a movie that happens to take place during Christmas.

Oh, the weather outside is frightful
but the fire is so delightful
and since we've no place to go

let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

I vote for a yippy-ki-yay Xmas. Surprisingly, it was released in July of 1988, but takes place entirely during an office Christmas party at the "Nakatomi Plaza" (actually Fox Plaza in Century City). The building was still under construction when the film was being made, so that's one reason why some of the floors were unfinished -- which worked perfectly for the story.

"There are two types of people in this world - those who think Die Hard is a Christmas movie, and those who are wrong."

Happened to read that somewhere the other day. Agree with it. :)

When I think Die Hard, I don't think Christmas... I just think of one of the best action flicks of all time. The fact that it happens to take place during the Christmas season hardly even enters into it.

As shown on the link above, it does enter into it.

I consider it a Christmas movie, always have. Lethal Weapon also starts with Xmas music, and the whole flick is set during Xmas time, but unlike Die Hard, I don't consider it a Christmas movie...go figure.

Perhaps because of scenes like the one above, it's different than LEthal Weapon.

Yes! Would love an opportunity to see it on the big screen this season. I love 'It's a Wonderful Life' as much as the next man, but some variation would be nice.

I always thought of it as a movie set at Christmas. Just like Lethal Weapon 1 (I Think). But neither are about Christmas.

I wouldn't mind Die Hard being a Christmas movie, but if being time placed at Christmas time makes it a Christmas movie, does that make Eyes Wide Shut also a Christmas movie?
