Rhino Records is planning on releasing a box set spanning Ronnie James Dio's entire career from ELF, Rainbow, Black Sabbath, and his own band DIO. No word as of yet as to any rare studio tracks being released.
I have an interview with him about the boxset. Nothing rare except maybe a few unreleased live tracks. Too bad many of the masters of things he recorded in the 60's for Kapp, Swan, and Atlantic are probably LONG GONE! I've always been a fan. He's from my hometown!
One of the great voices of hard'n'heavy music. I always felt he should do more ballads though, as opposed to louder rocker stuff. The few that he did with Mr. Blackmore's outfit ("Catch the Rainbow" and "Rainbow Eyes") are up there with the best, or his recent redux of "Sitting in a Dream" with DP (originally on Roger Glover's Butterfly Ball).
