Devoted To You - I love it!! A tender rendition with beautiful harmony by Mike & Brian. And this time chatter doesn't intrude the performance at all. 4/5.

Devoted to You is a super-dooper strong 4/5 in my book. Great singing by Mike and Bri.

Not quite as good as the Everly Brothers, but much better than some others who have tried this. I agree that it is 4/5, and I can see why they were able to use it as the B side to Gettin' Hungry.

Best cut on the record. The Cleverly Brothers. 5/5

I love the Everly Brothers, but I love the Beach Boys a lot more. I honestly believe Mike and Brian do this better than Phil and Don. A strong 4/5.
I did not think they should have used "Devoted to You" as the b-side to "Gettin' Hungry", tho.

Devoted to You. Yes, one of the better songs on Party! and not affected by any obtrusive "party" noises.

One of my favourite Everly's songs, so I can't rate the Beach Boys' version as superior.

Not sure I'd put it on a Beach Boys best of playlist or mix tape, therefore, 3/5.

They picked a great song and sung it perfect.

    5/5

    Today's song is Alley Oop:

"Alley Oop" is so silly and inconsequential; but they sing it with such gusto, (and another great performance from Mike) that I'll give it 4/5. "Look at that caveman GO."

This is a great Beach Boys cover song, and in this case the background talking doesn't reduce it's quality. I give it 4/5. It was on one of the first BB compilations I owned, so I'm a little biased on this one.

    Devoted To You--4/5

Excellent cover it's as if Brian and Mike were joined at the hip vocally. Two different vocals joined simultaneously, melody/counter melody. Beautiful paired vocals for a perfect acoustic tune.

    Oop - it's fine. 3/5

Gotta agree. Superlative. I just wish that goofy, mocking outro was left off. I know it's a 'party', but that was a reverent and beautiful performance of a very touching song. Don't goof on it.

And, gotta hand it to 'em, who on earth would choose to cover it in 1965? Who even remembered it?

In 1965 it was still getting plenty of airplay. A hit after Mike did it at the party.
The writer, Dallas Frazier, didn't record it until 1966 on his first album, Elvira.
Another Love, Darlene, did it in 1984 - a hoot of a version.

L.O.V.E. "Alley-Oop" - 4/5. Mike at the top of his game.

Interesting. Come to think of it, I guess a lot of the 'novelty' genre was alive and well in 1965...

Alley Oop. Hmm, what to make of it?

Like the percussion, fits the Party! theme well, Mike Love's performance is ...quintessential Mike Love

But when looking back at the rating key Luke the Drifter provided I have to give it 1/5. Can't say I am indifferent. I simply don't like the track.

Did I miss 'Chug A Lug'? Or does it have its own thread?
