"District 9" This one looks like a keeper.

I fear you are right. I have friends that are well educated, "cultured" and well traveled that balk at the idea of watching "foreign" films. Their loss.

 

Maybe the director had one too many emails offering to "Fund" his film, creating a bias/hatred in his mind

 

That, to me, completely redeems the movie. The character starts off as an absolute buffoon, a creepy government bureaucrat... and then becomes a sympathetic, noble, almost heroic creature by the end.

I just wish the cinematography wasn't so F'in' ugly.
