And none of us should ever watch "Heartbeat In The Brain" (which, sadly, I've seen a clip of). That one was REAL self-mutilation.
"Consenting Adults". Having been the victim of infidelity, the cheating element of the plot disturbs me greatly.
I just learned that Nekromantik was recently reissued on DVD & BR by Cult Epics.... maybe my chances of ever finding a copy have increased somewhat!
As I mentioned in another thread... Don't expect too much. It's good fun if you love seeing a couple of taboos being heavily broken, but it's also quite amateurishly done.
It's definitely quite amateurishly done, but that's part of its charm. That final scene is both gruesome and hilarious; I think the effect wouldn't be nearly as entertaining if it was done by a Hollywood pro and made to be more "realistic". YMMV I suppose.
Dogtooth. Greek film. Disturbing and fascinating at the same time. If anyone likes foreign movies, watch this. Anything by Catherine Breillat from France. She crosses the limits on her movies, some disturbing, some jaw dropping. You ask yourself how she can get away with what she films.
I've been looking for this film for a decade now. Even tried to contact Amanda Fielding. The film appears to be lost.
It's not lost, it's been shown publicly here and there. But I don't know who would *want* to see it; the small clips I've seen are just absolutely grotesque. The fact that other people took part in trying to get this silly 'high' - some with much larger drill bits, apparently - truly makes me question their sanity.
Haven't read all 21 pages of this thread, but I've not seen mention of David Cronenberg's 'Crash' yet. Not a gore fest, but a film I found to be VERY disturbing, yet one that I thoroughly enjoyed.
I saw it at a cinema the night of a snowstorm, and there were about seven other people who'd also braved the elements to see the movie. By the end, I was alone.
I'm kind of on a horror movie marathon. I've been watching the ones from this Rolling Stone list that I haven't seen. http://www.rollingstone.com/movies/lists/20-scariest-movies-you-need-to-see-20141029 I just watched "Inside". A nasty little french movie. Pretty disturbing, yes.
Thanks for the link. I've seen 11 of those films already, but I'm curious about the other 9. Some of them sound quite interesting
If you like foreign films, for me, "I Saw the Devil" is easily the best of the bunch. The original version of "Funny Games" is excellent too. You've probably already seen both though.
