These are what I think are the greatest R.E.M. songs that were used as B sides, used on tribute albums, maybe appeared later as bonus tracks, etc... The main criteria was that they didn't make the 15 core albums. Some are covers, others are just silly goofing around, but they're all great in my eyes. So, with no further ado, my top 10 R.E.M. songs that didn't make their albums. In no particular order:
    1. All The Right Friends (Live in studio)
    2. Bandwagon
    3. Voice Of Harold
    4. Mystery To Me
    5. I Walked With A Zombie
    6. First We Take Manhattan
    7. Arms Of Love
    8. Wall Of Death
    9. Yellow River
    10. Ghost Rider

Bonus points for Mills, Berry & Buck playing with Warren Zevon on that great cover of Raspberry Beret

    Deportee
    Brilliant Disguise
    What Do I Do Now?
    My Dark Life
    Soul For Hire

(If I have to play by the rules, Brilliant Disguise misses the cut...)

I had to have missed something.
    And probably significant.

    The Hollies

    1. Laughter Turns To Tears
    2. Wings
    3. Purple Rain
    4. Zip A Dee Doo Dah
    5. All The World Is Love
    6. You Know He Did
    7. Look Through Any Window (French lyrics)
    8. Don't Run and Hide
    9. Do The Best You Can
    10. Whole World Over
Top 2 on my list would've been no.1s if released IMO. Always love ruminating a late career hollies comeback spurred on by Laughter Turns To Tears, and Wings is one of the most beautiful, touching pieces of late 60s psychedelia I know. Far better than most of their singles at the time - what happened to it? Their cover of Purple Rain is better than Prince's original IMO.

I could've included about half their singles as most weren't released on albums, but I decided it wouldn't be in the spirit of the thread.

Really? I mean really?? No, REALLY???!!!

"Pappel rain" ??? I'm also a Hollies fan but their "treatment" of Purple Rain is one of the worst covers I have ever heard, especially the vocals

I think one of the things non-hardcore Oasis fans may not realize is how many b-sides and non-album tracks they put out. Literally multiple albums worth. My favorites:

    Listen Up
    Cloudburst
    Half The World Away
    Stay Young
    Shout It Out Loud
    Rocking Chair

I like their goofy delivery of the song. I've never cared for the original much, so don't really take my opinion to heart too much. I just find the original a bit dull and emotionless at times.

A few years ago, I played most of my favourite b-sides and bonus tracks on a 2 hour long web radio show. They are all from different artists so that doesn't count, or does it?

B-sides and bonustracks have always been a major draw for me in music collecting. Nothing quite as magical as finding out there were more songs from the sessions of that great album (of course I'm talking about the pre-internet 90's), and they were difficult and/or expensive to get, which made them that more desirable. I remember standing in a shop and seeing the cd-single for "I Am One" by Smashing Pumpkins in 1992 or 1993, I didn't know it existed and I had to have it but couldn't really afford it. Right decision to just buy it anyway, finding out at home what a treasure the b-side "Starla" was.

Since some of my favorites were taken (REM, Elvis C, Replacements) I picked my favorite "modern" band. I started buying the singles to their first album way back when but they conveniently put out a double disc set of b-sides a few years later. Once you get past California Sex Lawyer it's a masterpiece.
