Too bad it doesn't play the old cartridges or use the original controllers.

    Still, I want one!

For some reason, the original Contra has never been available to download on the Wii or Wii U either.

If anyone has Contra 4 for the Nintendo DS, you can unlock both Contra and Super C. Contra 4 is great too!

Didn't the article say you could use the original controller?
I'm curious if they're limiting this thing to only 30 games or if there will be a way to add more at a later date.

It has controllers that look like the old ones, but connect differently.

At this point, there is no way to add more games. I am hoping that will change.

Yeah, I think it's a really great idea. I hope they release add-on packs for it with more games.

Then why did the article linked here say explicitly you could use original NES controllers?

You are correct, I did not read the link here, I read the story on NintendoLife.com, which makes no such claims and I am more confident of their information being correct. The picture of the controller ports also look different than the original NES. I hope I am wrong, I would love to be able to use my NES Advantage.

Wish Pro Wrestling was included but I'm not complaining!

Pro Wrestling would be awesome. I heard a rumor that there is some copyright issue with Starman which is why it hasn't been re-released.

I sent my wife the link about this new mini-NES modulator thingy and she went all fan-girl because it has the two "Zelda" games on it. We're definitely gonna get one of them.

I already own the original cartridges for about 11 or 12 of those games... and there are only 2 or 3 others on the list that I'd be interested in owning anyway... so I'll be giving this new set a pass. Still a pretty cool idea, though.

I can see this selling very well. Great games for a budget price that will interest both people who grew up playing them and people who are interested in playing and collecting retro games, an act that is only growing in popularity.

This will prevent me from buying a Nintendo 3DS for the Virtual Arcade.

The "New 3DS" also has Super Nintendo games!

It does have a save feature, restore points just like Virtual Console games on the Wii U and 3DS.

One problem I've encountered while playing some old SNES games is the infamous "saved games getting mysteriously erased" syndrome, which is usually caused by a an old/dying battery in the cartridge. I've only had my console for about 2 weeks, and I've already lost my save files for both Super Mario World and Link to the Past. The worst part is, the erasing happened after I had already put about 20+ hours into each game and was right near the end of both! :(
