I still have my VCR! But I don't use it anymore though.

There are some HDMI to composite converters around for less than $130. The thing is, with the ones I've bought anyway, they crap out after like six-ish months. But maybe with a little luck you could do better than I did? I know, like anytime you buy cheap, it is a crapshoot. I found one at Fry's, and then I found two on Amazon. In the neighborhood of $30ish dollars each iirc.

I tried one of those converters and found the video quality to be so poor it was unwatchable.

So I do still have a functioning VHS player and a whole lot of tapes, but sadly no way to use/watch them.

Yep, I still have a VCR and lots of VHS tapes. I wish I could record shows with it though, but I have over the air digital, and the process to do that would be so convoluted and involve buying more hardware.

I got rid of all my pre-recorded VHS tapes in early 2000 when I got my first DVD player, and my VCR in 2005 when I got my first DVR. I couldn't fathom using a VCR today, especially in the world of HD.

Stopped regularly using VCR in 2009 when I got my first DVR. However, I do occasionally use a VCR for digitizing old programs I recorded that are not available in any other format.

mainly for converting the tapes to digital format.
I just today put a 34 year old VHS by The Jam [trans global express video] through the DVD recorder which I don't think has been officially released on DVD.
    it looks pretty good still.

Still have a VHS player stored away somewhere and a few tapes but no desire to reconnect it again. VHS on a modern TV is laughably bad as far as the picture quality is concerned. The sound quality can be quite good though.

I have one working VCR in the house and haven't used it in years. I have a few personal video recordings I've never transfered to DVD, the film Let It Be, and a TV performance of Ozzy with Randy Rhoads which are the only reasons I'd ever need to use the VCR. But I haven't in quite a while.

Yes, I have several working ones. I still like to hit the thrift stores and buy sealed vhs tapes for a buck!

My family came over recently and we put on the VHS of their great grandparents they never met along with how their mom's looked when they were 12.
It was a nice evening and frankly it didn't bother me that it was on VHS.
I got a kick asking the 10 year olds what they thought this tape was (They knew)

I should dig out my VCR and re-watch some of my movies that still aren't available on DVD....

    - Godzilla 1985
    - Pink Floyd: Delicate Sound of Thunder
    - From Star Wars to Jedi: The Making of a Saga
    - The Lawnmower Man
    (director's cut).

I have one in storage. Since I don't have anything on VHS that hasn't been released on another format, I'm not sure when I'll use it again, but I'm a bit of a pack rat, so I like knowing it's around.

I will be soon as I want to go through some old tapes of gigs I played back in the 90's and transfer them to DVD - hope they're still playable...
