Rufus Wainwright, very whiny to my ears. I have to turn down or change the radio station for my estimate of the length of the song when he comes on. Plus of course, as somebody put it, the "overemoting divas." Someone came up with a very good term for that sort of thing in an old copy of Tower record's late PULSE magazine: MELISMANIA.

    Mine?

    - Alanis Morrisette
    - Any Eddie Vedder sound-a-like
    - Kurt Cobain
    - All the aforementioned "Diva" singers

Ones that I'm not too fond of, but don't entirely hate

    - Graham Nash
    - Eric Clapton
    - Bruce Springsteen

That Randy Travis has always made me a little queezy. Sounds like he has some of kind of nasal infection going on or something.
    Also:
Yoko Ono sure makes me nervous
Helen Reddy gets me real shook up too sometimes

so many bad voices, so little space;)
    for me it's
    Bruce Springsteen
    Eddie Vedder
    geddy Lee
mariah, whitney and the modern 'divas' in general
but I've grown accustomed to Billy Corgan's whine;)

LOL  So true, sadly, Back in Black is just about the only good Brian Johnson era AC/DC album IMHO, although I did think that their last album was a sort of return to form for them. It sounded much like a Bon Scott era album, but alas, Brian Johnson's vocals are still on it. :sigh:

I hate that guy from Live, Ed Kowalsuck, or however it's spelled. Lightning Crashes - "The angel opens her ey-he-hi-huuhh-ei-eh-eah-eeh-a-ia-aiyes". That's emoting for ya!

I've gotta say that Rush wouldn't be Rush without the dulcet tones of Geddy Lee. ;) His voice has gradually matured over the years, but at least he can still sing high when he has to.

Alanis Morrisette. Could she possibly be any whinier?

For me 2 singers come to mind:

    Yoko Ono
    Axl Rose

Now when was the last time you heard these two names mentioned together? I have never been a big Guns N Roses fan but when Axl's voice comes on forget about it. It was especially painful to hear Axl on the Freddie Mercury tribute concert - talk about mixing the best with the worst!

Well, it looks like our leaders are Michael Bolton, Yoko Ono, the guy from Creed, Celine Dion, and Geddy Lee. We need a run-off poll for our Forum Golden Epiglottis Award.

Kinda shocked Springsteen didn't appear until the fourth page! Not that I'm picking Bruce as a painful vocalist - I adore the man's work - but I'm surprised he didn't come up until then...

Does that include EV himself or just the clones?

Kevin Cronin's heavily north-midwestern vocal inflictions used to make me gag. I'm kind of used to it now.

There was (is) a very popular singer 60's 70's that sounded like somebody was giving him a "Wedgie" while he was singing! Can't remember his name!

I can't stand Joni Mitchell when she sings fast songs. She sounds better, and more mature when she calms down.

Diana Ross gets on my nerves after a time. *Most* of her Motown solo albums sound like she is just fooling around on the mic. Her RCA albums are just too much damn Diana!

Stevie Nicks used to drive me up the wall!

I agree on that one. Especially the 'Future' Album. Some of those songs go on way too long. Or even 'Up In Her Room'. Still dig him though.:)

Forgot about Axl Rose. Who can forget him screaming "Gimme some reggae!" at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert, just as the entire band goes completely out of time?

Axl Rose reminds me of Brian Johnson on a bad day.
