    A few more...

Frankie Valli - That voice makes my hair stand on end.
Fiona Apple - Isn't there some sort of punishment for butchering Beatles songs.
Simon Le Bon - Second whiniest male voice.
    Paul Anka - Painful
Neil Sedaka - I never liked his voice, but his last project of writing lyrics for classical music falls under the "whaddahellyadoin" category.
Tori Amos - Kate Bush wannabe
Britney Spears - The thing that would not go away!
Jean Ritchie - Flat, flat, flat, flat and flat. Oh! Did I mention that her singing is flat?

Oh yes! Micheal Bolton, Celine Dion and Shania Twain... I know I mentioned them before but hey. Why not again. :p

Robert Plant. I've always thought that maybe his underpants are too tight.

Yup, Plant was the reason I never had much use for Zep!

Norah Jones - can't really put my finger on what I don't like (her voice or her singing style) but she just doesn't do it for me

Keiko Lee - very slow (read boring) and thick voice, I bought my first CD of hers last night and was sooo disappointed

Actually, it does make a little sense. Sedaka is a classicly-trained pianist and attended Julliard. He took an interest in pop and began writing while enrolled there, scoring his first hit through Connie Francis with "Stupid Cupid".

So, in an odd twist, he went on from Julliard to become one of the more talented songwriters on the legendary Brill Building staff.

He does have a way of turning many folks off, but he's admittedly led quite an interesting life and has some impressive classical credentials.

I can't stand Tom Waits's voice either, but I respect his talent.

Uh, Leo Sayer? ("You Make Me Feel Like Dancing" and "When I Need You.") He's sort of a Bee Gees pop-style singer with a high-pitched voice.

Or do you mean a metal-style shrieker?

I had an odd experience in a movie theater this afternoon. Before the movie, they played Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful" followed by Mariah Carey's "Through the Rain."

I swear, Mariah sounded like a model of taste and restraint after Christina.

I may have missed this in the previous posts but I need to add

    Billy Corgan.

I assume this guy can hear given his ability to write songs and play guitar, but he must not be able to hear his own voice the way I do.

    Yet another one...

King Diamond - The first time I heard his voice was when he had just released "Them". I thought that had to be (at the time) the most annoying falsetto ever. The revulsion turn into a bit of hilarity when he sang the line "Time for tea". Needless to say you couldn't hear the rest of the song over the howls of laughter.

Garth Brooks (the Wal-Mart of music, what a fraud)

Tori Amos (wants to be Kate Bush so bad it hurts)

Shania Twain (formula: large breasted tease plus record producer/songwriter husband equals millions of sales)

Reba McEntire (her "accent" just keeps growing by leaps and bounds)

Billy Corgan can really annoy me at times, even though I like SP- go figure

    all of the screaming divas

Actually, while all of the above make me cringe and bash my head into the wall, the only recorded voice that actually makes me physically ill is my own.

Um, "wac"? Is that supposed to be a euphemism for something? Ah, never mind...:)

    Good summation.

And agree with many others about Celine, Whitney and Britney. Screeching divas complimented with god-awful overproduction make me head for the hills.

As with the "overrated" thread, one more hour on this one too, then we're going to close it down.
