Hasn't that franchise been diluted enough?

Of course, what I know? I hate all of the Vacation movies.

If done right, it would be great. Emphasis on the word IF.

Chevy Chase might be up for it, but what about the kids? How would a "Vacation" movie do without the original Rusty & Audrey? :)

BTW, here's the latest on the Ed Helms (as "Rusty Griswold") and Christina Applegate (his wife) starring continuation series.

We'll see if it films, but I've heard its very close to official pre-production. But you never know with these things.

I'm sure Chevy and Beverly would reprise their roles, this time as grandparents - the only thing that would prevent that I'm guessing is Chevy not approving of the script. Some may say this would be the first time he's read one.

Written and directed by the duo who wrote Horrible Bosses, and they are to direct.

This new film sounds like another "sequel/prequel but really basically a remake", like OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL and THE THING.

Does anyone (under 40) even know what National Lampoon was anymore?

No..those Old Navy commercials a few years back were the perfect way to conclude the series.

Yes! They even had European Vacation Rusty (Jason Lively) make a fun appearance.

How much of the theatrical cut of Fletch, one of Chevy's best movies, features improvisation; I don't know. Tim Matheson talks about how Michael Ritchie did extra takes,
    "for Chevy," though.

To me, Vacation is so 1983...
So I voted "no". What I find funny now is not the same as what I found funny 31 years ago.

If the script were really good I think it would be fine. He could absolutely pull it off. I agree there were only two good Vacations but the others were bad because the scripts were, not because Chevy's acting had changed. If of course you agree that the first one and Christmas were actually the only good ones....and plenty here disagree on that. But Chevy could pull it off imo.

I'm obviously in the very small minority here as Chevy Chase is one of my fave actors - can't recall a movie of his I didn't like. :hide:
