To the best of my knowledge, I don't even think it was done live in 1969 when it was a single.

It probably sounds too much like Clarksville to put in as a rarity in a setlist.

I also wonder why a true-to-the-recording version of Take A Giant Step has never been done live.

It;s not on the setlists that survive from that tour. (And how come we apprently have setlists for the whole damn tour and not one recording?)

Just listened again tonight to Birds, Bees, Monkees and Instant Replay albums. So many great songs on their “lesser” records!

There are some very poorly recorded fan tapes from the 1969 tour and some live TV appearance recordings.

"It's going to be a very different show than anything any incarnation of the Monkees has ever presented since there won't be screens displaying vintage clips of the group and they're dipping deep into the catalog to resurrect songs that have never been played live."

I had a feeling there'd be no big screen showing clips from the show .. will there still be a big screen with close-ups of the band, I wonder?

Andrew Sandoval is on the tour and he’s the one who compiles the videos shown on the screen. There’s a good chance there will be videos shown as in previous tours.

    Hope not
They are playing theaters, not arenas. And close ups do no favors to 70 somethings.

What’s the likelihood of these deep, deep cuts being performed on this tour:

    “Steam Engine”?
    “Naked Persimmon”?!?

There is a video circulating of them rehearsing Different Drum acoustically.

Andrew's Facebook page. Unfortunately not on the Tour's page (yet, at least), otherwise I think it could be linked.

These are probably just stripped-down rehearsals and the actual show will have fuller arrangements, but I kinda think the show should more like these clips.

Nesmith might not smile much anymore, but it sure sounds like he hasn’t lost a thing with his voice. Big, powerful, in pitch and on key!

The fact that they're performing "Auntie's Municipal Court" and "St. Matthew", they can do whatever else they want and I'll be happy.

    "Shorty Blackwell" anyone?

I can confirm that the high price of tickets are scaring off people in NYC. Went to see some local music last night and people know of, and want to go, but they're unsure about the price. They're also excited about the FNB. So lower sales don't reflect lack of interest. I think they'll cave though.

Nice to hear but I hope they put a good bit more work into rehearsing St. Matthew before taking it to the stage.

How much do the tickets cost in NY? In Dayton OH the most expensive ones are 56$ but you can get a seat in a 4200 seat venue for only 20$. Less than half the seats are sold for a June 15th date.
