I just found out that SOFA Entertainment is teaming up with Historic Films to release a dvd boxset of the legendary music show which aired from 1973-81
My only wish is to get full uncut season boxsets but i doubt it

Lets hope they're not spliced and mutiliated like the Midnight Special discs were. Nice clips, but the constant lead in and end tags with each track were disgusting. Hope there isn't watermarking either......

This series was a ritual thing for me back when I was living in Santa Clara during the favorite time of my life. This is great news. Plus, the more Taylor Era Rolling Stones I can get, the better.

this has a lot of potential, but I will wait for reviews before I dive in....these kinds of releases get messed up too often

    Wow! Thanks for the news!

SOFA has released some uncut Ed Sullivan shows, so hopefully we'll see uncut episodes of DKRC.

I bet they won't be able to get the rights to certain groups. But Sofa Entertainment definitely has the chutzpah to nail down all the legalities, as they did on the Ed Sullivan Show DVDs. That must have been a legal and financial nightmare, especially dealing with The Beatles...

I hope this comes sooner than later. Having a Betamax I taped many episodes in the 70s--but my tapes won't look nearly as good as what the masters will bring. I just hope SOFA will give us the best stuff------Raspberries please:righton:. Thanks.

I don't think so. I have a ahem DVD with lots of shows they were on. The long instrumental opening to Lets Pretend is one of the best ever.

Raspberries were on DKRC twice - once in '73 (with original lineup) promoting Side 3, then again in '74 with the Starting Over lineup. The latter is the one with the extended version of "Let's Pretend."

This could be pretty cool if they do it right. I have a now unplayable VHS with the Stones from 73. IIRC, they played Angie, Silver Train, and maybe Dancing with Mr. D. They were looking very Glam, especially Mick.

The Midnight Special DVDs I've seen are hit and miss, but there's some absolute gold amongst the dross. The picture and sound quality on the Midnight Special DVDS is excellent.

And Keith's teeth looked very glam as well.

Wonder if SOFA Entertainment's gonna use the footage of KANSAS that appeared on Their "Carry On" 30th Anniversary Set's DVD? The transfer on that DVD,from what I'd heard is pretty bad sounding...let's hope SOFA does better on this this time around!:righton:
