Don Rickles deserves all the tributes he can possibly get while he's still on this earth with us. Long live the funniest matador ever!

I saw Don Rickles live at The Grove Park Inn (Ashevile, NC) a few years back. I laughed so hard I cried! My wife and the freinds that with us were too shocked to laugh though. He doesn't pull any punches. Thank goodness we weren't sitting in either of the front two rows. :uhhuh:

I remember as a kid watching him jokes about people in the audience and most times my jaw dropped. When he was on Carson he never held back. He's one of the last of a "certain age" of comedy that I grew up and loved.

He deserves to be honored anytime he's on stage now as far as I'm concerned.

What date/year was that? I never knew he played there or I would have made the three hour trip to see him.

my friend ran into him coming out of a casino. he was running to get somewhere and rickles was going to his show. He said oh Mr. Rickles I love your stuff, you are great. Don says then why you running the other way, someone ring a dinner bell (my friend is big boned)?

It was actually several years ago. It was at a Comedy Weekend possibly in 2000 or 2001. We've been up there for several Comedy Weekends & Jazz Weekends over the years. They have all kind of merged together in my mind.

    Love the Rickles.

My wife, parents and I went to see him at Foxwoods in CT several years ago, and my face hurt from laughing so much.

I was literally doubled over with laughter at times.

Cool. I saw Don in 2002 in Sparks, 2003 in Cincinnati and 2005 in Las Vegas so that makes sense you are talking about an earlier date. I would have likely known if Asheville was anytime after 2002. Dates around here are few and far between. I keep hoping Harrah's Cherokee might get him one time.

Always loved him, as a kid when I graduated 8th grade the "what will they become" for me in the graduation book was I'll be the replacement for Don Rickles. I was honored at that.

He's such a class act. I'll bet he'll get in on the act and start royally roasting himself - the ultimate roast.

I'm reminded of this wonderful line from National Lampoon. It was about Alan King originally, but it could be applied to Don Rickles:

"They had to roast him, as he was too greasy to fry and not important enough to bake."

I know he's not everybody's cup of tea but I love his humour. Love the line from CICGC, "what's a matter Jerry, you need money?" His lexicon of one-liners is priceless!

I look forward to when he appears on Letterman...he's one of the few who can either keep up with Dave or can perplex him. Great television.

Way back when roasts meant something and had to be censored for TV, Rickles was the highlight of a roast of Carson. He was on a dais that included Groucho, Alan King, Flip Wilson, etc. He was devastatingly funny.
