When you pick up a new external phono pre-amp, such as a Pro-ject Box S, adjust the dip switches for your appropriate stylus, run your cables, and then proceed, in your excitement, to plug it into the 'phono in' of your receiver. 2 things happened: 1) I never knew I could witness the woofers of my B&W 600 bookshelves behave in that manner. A woofer can expand like that? LOL 2) I've never seen my dog move and vacate a room that fast. BOOM! Needless to say, the Box S blows my receiver's phono pre-amp out of the water (Onkyo TX-SR705), once I used a dedicated line-in.
Heh, I've been there on the woofers. I had a Yaqin phono preamp that could make my woofers slowly go allll the way in and allll the way out. It would be cool to watch if it wasn't slightly terrifying.
What's crazy is that it totally wasn't. I dreamed at night of hooking it up, but when the time came, I got too excited. Just like my women. LOL.
