They did a great job of making it sound like the original IMO. I will try to find a sample on Amazon for you.

Right on...maybe I was wrong! It's blocked from YouTube (the Cult Classic version)...so...I've had a heck of a time hearing it!

such a great a song. Such a shame it was never properly played live. Dharma always putting that damn distortion on the guitar. One of the most iconic things on this song is the the clean tone guitar with reverb. But he decided to slap on the distortion pedal live and call it day. That is why I don't own "some enchanted evening".

I'm a huge fan of "Astronomy" and "Veteran of the Psychic Wars" especially, they are fantastic songs.

I immediately thought of a Chuck Berry lyric listening to this:

"I got no kick against modern jazz
Unless they try to play it too darn fast
And lose the beauty of the melody"

Ive had this LP since I was at school about 40 years ago. Every track is killer. It was many years later that I heard Reaper, not a bad song at all but not as good as anything on T&M.

Wow. OP's question is a heart breaker. DFtR is fine. I'm glad the band has an "evergreen" to keep the pots simmering, but it's nowhere near the top of their game.

The first three albums are absolute heaven. I remember reading about the first album before its release, probably in Circus Magazine. The cover was so cryptic and cool. It was instantly - "I've gotta hear this thing."

I've lived with those LP's since their times of release. So much to enjoy. Even the songs that fall between the cracks like "Wings Wetted Down" are high calibre.

...and as others have noted "Astronomy" is a career pinnacle both lyrically and musically.

The song before that, "Flaming Telepaths", is fantastic as well

"Reaper" is a good song but definitely not my favorite either, not even on the album it's from.

And people say opinions can't be wrong. You got the 'blows' part right, though.

Man, there were so many time when I was gonna pick this box up, for around $100. Wish I had pulled the trigger, the only copy on Amazon US is going for $800. At least there are a couple of those 5 album classic sets in print, might have to finally check out BOC.

I've never bought anything on discogs, but there are some being sold there for much less than that. Around 150 though, and by international sellers. Still, compared to 800 bills, a bargain. :p

Yeah, much lower. I was just looking on Amazon and almost every BOC album is under $5 new, and they are the remastered versions with bonus tracks. I think I'm gonna pick up four or five and finally give them a chance. Now to decide which ones to get. If you have any suggestions I'd love to hear them, or anyone else too. I'm getting a pretty good idea from this thread, but I can never have to much info.
