I have a pair of brand new speakers, which are just out of the box for about 9 months now, just sitting in my basement (de-humidifier going at %45 rel hum) I don't have room for them at the moment, so they sit.

will they get damaged just sitting there until i decide to use therm???? Or will they be fine until i use them.?
maybe another year or two til i can use them.

I would leave them boxed if not being used, to keep them clean, but they won't get damaged by sitting. If your dehumidifier stops working and you don't notice for a long time or there is a flood or etc then you may have issues...

Crossover caps won't be "energized", though, and attempting to crank them from the onset *might* blow a cap with the surge.

Bath towels may attract or retain moisture. I would use a hydrophobic cloth as a cover. Look into synthetics like polypropylene..

when i do decide to use them. i will do the same with my others.

let them play for a few days on a medium low volume to break in, with the bass up high. to break in the drivers, and the crossovers.

same goes for amps, let them on for a few days at a low use volume to warm up everything.
I always leave NEW stuff on for two weeks at a time to check for problems. CD players seem to always go bad after a week or two.

good quality amps are fine ( usually)
