I agree...I meant that nothing I buy has any resale value.

Good points...I just can't buy-n-sell anymore for the artists I like. Even with used CDs the "audition cost" is too high.

Does Cincinnati still have used CD stores? Most of them will allow you to sample CDs if you bring a CD walkman. Also, if you have time, go to garage sales. Around here CDs at such sales are typically 25 cents, 50 cents or $1. Every so often you hit a major collection. Audition cost is almost free. 10 CDs for the price of a "Big Mac" (which has no value at all)

The first press Wish You Were Here is a black 3/4 face disc with gold tint.

I was very tempted when I saw a load of mint singles in a local charity shop. Many limited editions most in cardboard sleeves or digipaks, all mint.

Loads of boy band shlop, but a few goodies lurking methinks.

Mostly alternative, from the 90s to early 00s. I was quite tempted by Elliott Smith's Son of Sam. Of course, they have all gone now. All that remains is the useless junk that they couldn't sell a year ago.

Tried downsizing years ago. Ended up buying a lot of them back. I just think I'm meant to die surrounded by 10,000 cds.

I certainly have collected them, in large numbers, mainly ones from the 90s, especially the Britpop era. Loads of great B sides!

Slowed down a lot lately as I think I probably have well over 90% of the singles I'm ever likely to want to own.

Cost a pretty penny when they came out as well no doubt.

  15. I would strongly advise boxing all of your CDs and sending to a charity shop in the Kent UK area. Let me know the shop when you have sent the parcel and I will check they have received it.

I got rid of a lot of CDs, but not before ripping them to FLAC files first. That was a good compromise between quality and space concerns.

I got rid of some CD's.

    All of Led Zep.

    All of the Who.

    All of Frank Zappa.

    All of Jimi Hendrix.

    All of the Doors.

All of Pink Floyd except for Wish You Were Here. I THINK I still have it. Even this album has become borderline for me.

What was good in one period of my life just doesn't seem right now.

Or for my son, who would inherit these.

Somehow, a common denominator is that these artists are, in my opinion, stuck in a certain period in the Sixties or Seventies.

I don't have any Rolling Stones either.

I've actually been in a buying mode lately. Picking up a lot of old titles that I ditched years ago.

I don't collect those, but I have a Who single that I've had since it was new. Not sure why I've held on to it all these years, but I have. Heck, I'm not even sure I have anything that can play it. Will it play in a laptop CD drive?

I have just ONE CD single , Soudgarden's ¨Black Hole Sun¨. It has some mind-bending Dj-remix of the same song included. My wife is a huge fan of the band and says it's heresy, but I love it. Can't find my version on Discogs so prolly super-rare ?

First time I see that coppery ¨ripple efect¨ through the paint of a CD label.

When I was working in retail and could buy expensive import CD singles at cost, I bought a bunch of Soundgardens as they had great B-sides. I don't see that many in the used stores these days.

I wonder if it's an official release. I see a DJ Zebra remix showing up, but no mention of it in the discography.

Unofficial SG Homepage: Black Hole Sun
