I have a chance to buy a Dual CS 16 turntable from 1970. I think it's the same as the 1216 model. It doesn't have anti-skate. It's in working condition, with a shure cartridge. Needs lubing. Is this a good purchase? I can have it for 20-30$. And since it doesn't have anti-skate, will it ruin my LP:s? -Markus
Something isn't right here---no such thing as a "CS16", as far as I know. If it's a 1216 it does have antiskating. It is still one of the idler wheel drive models, full automatic with multiple play capability (who'd do that in this day and age?), built like a tank and full of dead grease. If it hasn't been manhandled too badly, it can be brought up to spec if you're patient and careful. Have you seen it? Does it operate at all? You can play 78s on this one... --Roger
I couldn't find any info on CS 16, either, but it looks exactly like 1216. Yes, it plays 78's. Operational, yes. I'll post a pic soon. -Markus
Yeah, I know it's not a hifi-player, but a nice piece of history. I'm not going to pay big $ for it, that's for sure. I think I'm going to grab that sucka and see what I can do with it. I want to hear what it sounds like. If it's total crap I'll sell it forward (to someone I don't like, perhaps). Thanks guys for your input, this forum is the best. -Markus
Yes, I'm one of those people. I got it for 24 bucks. It was the CS 16 on the front that got me confused. Well, more confused than usual. -Markus
