Two winners at my local (and hideously overpriced) former favorite place:

"Should I get this here or just get it at Urban Outfitters?"

"So, this is like the REAL record, and not one that's been made over and over again?"

As I was checking out with a James Gang Rides Again cd in the pile the guy asked if I found it in the Js; I said yes thinking he meant I maybe found it under Walsh; he said good as he had a sign posted in the back office telling the younger employees it doesn't go in the Gs, I thought it was pretty funny.

Not overheard but picked up the 2009 re-issue of Help! in a store in Southern Ireland. The young girl on the check-out asked whether I glad heard the album before which struck me rather funny given I am 60+ and queued to buy it some 50 years ago!

It must have been myself, when I worked in a record store and tried to answer every question I got instead of being arrogant and pretend that I was a rock star. I did not fit into the record industry. :)

Not 'dumb' as such as she just didn't know so I'm not trying to look down on the person who said it, but it made me smile.

"So where it says Side B? Does that mean, like, you have to turn it over or something?"

As I was standing at the register in Tower Records about 15 years ago, the clerk answered the phone, turned to a co-worker and asked, "Who's Elvis Presley?"

sometimes, you could say dumb things to mess with them "This Weird Al Yankovic album... all I can find is the clean version... Can you check and see if you can find the explicit version"... then see how long they spend checking...

In Tower records 30 years ago and they were playing some Roger McGuinn I hadn't heard before. I asked the clerk what it was. He responded "I dunno, sounds like some Tom Petty clone to me".
