Dwight Yoakam called in to the "Imus in the Morning" program earlier this morning. He mentioned a forthcoming 4-CD box set/hits compilation of his work coming out this Fall. But he also mentioned a Rhino Handmade set that he characterized as "every track he ever recorded for Warner" and that it would be about "10 CD's". Funny on how sources other than Rhino mention forthcoming titles, yet there is little or no information on the Rhino Handmade site. In other news Dwight is one of the people helping Warren Zevon complete his last project along with Kinky Friedman (who was also on Imus this AM), Warren's engineer, and one of Warren's sons.
According to the new ICE, Rhino Handmade is issuing a 17-CD box containing everything Dwight ever released for Reprise. Based on the number of CDs, it'll probably be straight reissues of his original albums, plus extra CDs with the stuff that wasn't on the LPs. It also will include all the previously unreleased material that is appearing on the more generally available forthcoming 4-CD set.
Gee, is Dwight trying to outduel Neil Young for largest proposed box set? How much will that cost? It has to be $300+
