Early Spielberg on TV

    The Steven Spielberg-directed episode/telefilm "Columbo: Murder by the Book" is airing on the Bravo cable network this evening (actually tomorrow morning) at 4:30 AM EDT. If you are interested in seeing one of Mr. Bigshot's first major directing assignments, or even just one of the earliest and best Columbos, you may want to set your VCRs/DVRs/Recording device of your choosing.

    Addendum: In addition to being directed by a 25 year old Steven Spielberg, the teleplay for this one was written by a then 28 year old Steven Bochco. This is significant because, after all, these are the men who would go on to create "1941" and "Cop Rock" ;)

    I remember a Spielberg directed episode of "The Name Of The Game", way back when. Something to do with the future, and what our society had turned into. Anyone recall this, or am I getting senile. Final shot was, I think, a dead bird.

    Yes, I remember this one with fond memories and was quite surprised that Dennis Weaver had the starring role.

    The epsiode was called L.A. 2017. I vaguely remember it. That was a great series! Spielberg also directed two episodes of Rod Serling's Night Gallery

    "Duel" was on TNT last week, which was nice because the DVD seems to be delayed indefinitely.

    That's the one! It WAS a great series. This particular episode left an impression on me, and I remember, at the time, looking to see who directed it.
