To my regret, I have never listened 96/24 PCM version.
I will not try it because I am a self-certified DSD256 supporter or DSD256-phile and I am well satisfied with the sound quality of the SACD version.
One more reason why I will not buy 96/24 PCM version is that I can count on no better recording device used for 96/24 PCM than Grimm AD1 used for the DSD mastering. (At that time, Merging Horus/HAPI might not be available yet)

Now that we are deep into March has anyone received any of these yet? If so please comment on the sound and packaging!

Keith Jarrett Köln Concert SACD was delivered today and is sitting in my PO Box at the local UPS store. :sigh:

I'd love to know the difference between the presentation of the SACD vs the slightly cheaper UHQCD...Which one is the "Gold Disc" or are they both??? ARGHHHHH so confusing!

Hmm, that's true but everything else about the listing (price, unusual terms etc.) are identical to the Koln SACD listing. I'd email cdjapan and confirm with them, but 99% chance it's the Tower SACD reissue.

I have one personal, anecdotal instance of having to confirm with them that a listed "CD" was, in fact, SACD (a Mahler 7 recording on Exton with Inbal).

What I think is the difference, is that the SACD is a DSD remaster from the analogue tape in non-RBCD, SACD format. UHQCD is, among other things, redbook, no?

    Brian posted his result here
Keith Jarrett "The Köln Concert" - Hybrid SACD released in Japan
    He said,
"They are the 3 ECM SACDs. That's how I purchased them - via CD Japan's Special Order service."

Setsuko, can you translate some of the information on the obi strip? Looks like 2017 DSD remastering is indicated there.....

The 3 ECM SACD titles are supposed to be Jp Tower Records exclusives.

the three "Tower exclusive" SACDs are now available via e-onkyo as DSD downloads for a similar price (¥3,680). the Jarrett is also available in 24/96 flac but only the DSD files (DSF 2.8MHz/1bit) are from the 2017 analog transfers.

Thanks for the heads up, but there is a catch; We currently can not allow customers outside of Japan to purchase digital products on e-onkyo music due to licensing restrictions.

I 'm a bit confused here.. was both the DSD and CD layers sourced from this latest DSD remaster or just the SACD layer.
I've heard of this being done before,, I think it was the "Brothers In Arms" Hybrid, where the CD layer still had HDCD encoding and must have been sourced from a prior RBCD mastering.
AFAIK Christoph Stickel isn't part of ECM..

I compared a binary data ripped from the conventional CD with one from CD layer of this Hybrid SACD and found the both are identical.
