I wonder if it is true? I'd have thought No. 1 would have been put aside for someone.

I don't know, I would figure Steve would have the first few.
I wonder how much this will end up going for?

I have number 2, same for anything else numbered that was released on DCC.

Wow, I wonder how anyone could get a hold of that first disc initially? I bet it is legit, look at the other items this seller has for sale! The 24 KT Gold sampler is one of them!

Matt, I was on this one right away to verify if it was "the real deal". As far as I know both Steve and HZ are looking into it.;)

I'm sure glad that I did the majority of my DCC/MFSL shopping last year after seeing what's going on this year.;)

Where did all the #1s normally go?

    All,

We have checked with the original owner, and the sale on eBay is legit.

    So have at it!

Holy Zoo, this sounds very ominous. Without giving email addresses and such, who is the original owner and how did they get the #1 issue. Just curious?!?

The original owner of number 1 would be the big cheese. My question is: were these all numbered? Because I got a sealed one a couple months ago and it is does not have a number sticker on it! :D Oh well, at least I only paid 30 bucks for it. Time to open up my "new" cd. :D

Wow, it's up and over $100 and four days to go. While this is a great disc, because of it's rarity, it should go for a real premium price. In a way it's too bad because the buyer will probably keep it sealed and won't open and play it.

It looks like someone who was associated with DCC. All of the auctions are DCC material...

I really missed out on a lot of these! I was lucky to find a sealed "24 Karat Hits!" for $39.89 last night. I take it that was a good deal!:D

The price on this is edging up and it still has a while to go. Given that a couple of weeks back #7514 of this went for $262.87  and the Sinatra Duets Twin Packs are pegged at around the $300 mark - what would this have to fetch make the eBay DCC Gold record ???

Wonder if it sounds better than that cheap copy that's in thepost to me

    :D

    All the best - Andrew

    Hey Matt and Andrew,

How about telling us where you managed to pick up the "cheap" Elvis.

Sometimes I get the impression that whilst we all act like one big happy family here, when it comes to CD sources many of us get a little secretive!

.......or is it just my imagination!!

Who is the "big cheese"? The location of the seller is LA...must be someone at DCC?

This brings up another question...Is there really any difference between #1 and #2500 for a cd other than the collection factor? I'm sure this must have been explained on an earlier thread, but SH can you explain if there is any difference (deterioration) in the sound quality of a cd after, for example, 2500 pressings. Thanks.

Can't blame the situation as I experience. In the region I am in, gold Cd especially DCC are rare. Whenever there is a lead for it, normally i will leave my work and head straight to the place and grab whatever DCC the store has. Some of my friends call me "DCC Vulture"

    Hi Peter,

This was the only one the seller had, unfortunately. I don't mind sharing, it was an Amazon.com zShop that had this listed. I just searched for "24 Karat Hits!" from the first Amazon screen and there it was and I freaked! I had to get it.:D I can't wait for it to arrive.

Know where I can get an inexpensive original Ringo? :D

    Peter,

Every record store that has ever carried DCC/MFSL is listed in the forum...somewhere. Maybe try "record stores" or "cd sellers" in the search mode.;)

Thanks Dave, but I wasn't really asking for sources.

I've managed to dig up quite a few online sources over the last few months through hours and hours of surfing!

But how often does someone post something like "There is one copy of 24 Karat Hits available right now at ????.com"?

Don't get me wrong. I don't always cough up all of my favourite sites either!
