I wonder how new mastering will improve "Rock Around the Bloch" considering the source tape?

Me too. It's a great concert -- wish it wasn't tied to an $85 book. The books are nice, but I find it strange to focus such a lavish book on this -- or am I missing something?

It's got great sound and it's a nice comp of that period. So, I think it's a good buy. Crank it!!... and enjoy that last gasp of the greatest artist of our time.

Lately, I'm more interested in the complete shows -- for better or worse. Usually worse. I played New Haven '76 on a road trip and my wife said something like "what the f is this" as she rolled her eyes -- but I still love to hear the whole story in context. But comps have their place ... and this was likely one of them.

Don't want to start a new thread, since it's totally "on-topic"... so let's just include it here.

Yeah, a road trip with other passengers was probably not the best time and place to spin New Haven '76.

Are there any FTDs that cover the early 60's and feature the track, "Surrender"? That track is on the Legacy of Elvis is Back but not the FTD.

Which just happens to be one of the must have FTD releases!

    kollectionist is absolutely correct.

Of the takes on His Hand In Mine, Take 1 is also on From Nashville To Memphis, Take 2 is also on the FTD Fame and Fortune, Takes 5 & 6 are also on Close Up, and Take 9 is also on Essential Elvis vol 6.

Isn't the entire surrender session in this, or are any takes missing?

Entire session, including the "work parts" edit showcasing Elvis working towards his dynamic ending for the song.
