Sold for less than 25% of estimated value.

Elvis Presley’s private jet just sold for well below its estimated auction price

A private jet owned by Elvis Presley just went under the hammer at auction, selling for $430,000. There were not too many bids for this piece of history, which went for well below the $2 million to $3.5 million estimate, with no reserve price. We watched the sale live on the GWS Auctions site, which also included other Elvis memorabilia, as well as items related to or once owned by other musicians and celebrities. There was a buyer’s premium of 23 percent. That plus the cost of shipping will bring the price of this jet (lot number 6) to well over half a million dollars.

Plus doesn't Graceland have the other plane("Lisa Marie") for public view?

Not even the Zeppelin "Chariot" jet would have got that much if it still existed. After LZ, it was owned by a casino and crashed with some high rollers on board.

I still can't wrap my mind around who would buy a plane without a motor for over half a million dollars.

It's a plane that someone famous flew in. Big whoop.

Hard Rock Las Vegas Casino if they didn't buy should and turn it into a custom "High Roller" dining car next door. The King is back!

A plane that isn't well maintained will have little value.

That's one heck of a big cardboard box. And lots and lots of styrofoam peanuts. Like 50,000,000 of them if I'm not wrong.

Elvis only owned this plane for a short time for an investment and there's no pictures of him with this plane. It's not one of his famous ones and the guy who bought the plane after Elvis died claims in the video below to have been the one who designed the interior as opposed to Elvis, despite the lack of paperwork for him doing the change. The plane really looks to be a piece of junk without an engine left to rot for 30 years, IMHO.

It's Elvis's plane all right, the cabin still smells like soap on a rope and Fiddle Faddle.

I love how the auction house says they are "not going down that rabbit hole" about Roy McKay's claims, despite the fact that a simple records search shows that Roy McKay (or more accurately, the McKay Oil Corporation) did indeed own the plane when he said he did and he also has the photographs to show for it. There doesn't appear to be any real evidence provided that Elvis owned the jet. And if he did own it, there is no proof that he flew in it. The auction house doesn't want to go down a rabbit hole that they know they can't get out of!

Even if Elvis did own the jet and flew in it, it's value is still highly questionable. The plane holds very little value as an aircraft at this point... the cost to bring it back into the skies after sitting unused for 33 years would be astronomical. And the plane would hold very little value as a tourist draw, since the planes at Graceland have a much stronger connection to Elvis (with the smaller of the two also being a Lockheed Jetstar).

This plane is probably not worth more than its scrap value.
