Is this re-mixed by Mr. Wilson?

No. I'm pretty sure it's by Jakko Jakszyk. Mr. Wilson is no longer involved with the ELP remixes.

Yes, if a simple Google search requires too much effort.

I am not sure who he is either but he did a great job with Brain Salad Surgery so I am in with Trilogy.

Oh, hell yes! Thanks for posting. This title and Johnny Cash at San Quentin were the first two albums I ever owned.

Jakko Jakszyk is the second guitar and vocalist in the new King Crimson lineup. Obviously he's right up there will Wilson as far as Fripp is concerned, and I agree that the BSS remix was done quite well.

There were too many pans about the Jakko mix of Brain Salad Surgery, particularly Karn Evil 9. I'm going to wait for some reviews before pulling the plug on this.

I always go back to my Atlantic CD mastered by Barry Diament, the last try for me was the Japanese K2 edition (2008)... but let's wait and see.

I know it says Barry mastered this, but he claims he didn't master it. Stephen Innocenzi is also mentioned in the ELP self titled booklet as a 2nd mastering engineer, and I'd suspect Stephen did this uncredited - it's too bright for a BD mastering.

Rontoon are you sure that Neil Wilkes knows if the 5.1 ends up everywhere or only in the "limited" edition? After the fiasco with BSS, I have zero tolerance for this trio of scammers.

No, I'm not. But at this price 1) I can always cancel the pre-order w/o being charged and 2) I don't care, ordering it anyway.

    Slight thread crap... :hide:

(I tried a search but there are hundreds of "Trilogy" threads.)

A local store has a copy of "Trilogy" on the "Victory" label (Distributed by Polygram in rim text) which I've placed on hold:

    Catalog # 383 480 019-2

Now what's really weird about it (in addition to the fact that I've never heard of the Victory label before), is that it's in a jewel case with the early-era chrome seal (broken), but the artwork on the Non-Play side of the disc is brown with a big elp, which would seem to be a more recent pressing.

Could be that a newer disc was switched into an older jewel case, but...

The hub contains MFD BY JVC

Any comments about it -- especially its Sound Quality?

Thanks for the tip! For 11.78 GBP, I'm in for the two-disc set. If the DVD-Audio disc is stereo-only, that's fine with me.

The Victory was the first US remaster series by Joe Palmaccio under the supervision of forum member Bill Levenson. The Victory (and the reissues on Rhino) are all excellent sounding.

Does anyone have the Japanese 2008 or 2010 SHM remasters and if so how are they compared to other editions?

Completely agree about being quite happy with just a hi-res stereo version. The two disc BSS included 96/24 FLAC files on the DVD, with both the remix and original '73 mix.

This is great news! Pre-ordered from amazon.uk -- just hoping I don't have to cancel for lack of 5.1 like the BSS.....
