I wasn't a fan, but I can definitely see and respect his talent. I did like the song and video "Mosh" from his most recent album. "Don't criticize what you can't understand." --Bod Dylan
better than burning himself out probably a wise move for him at this time maybe he'll be able to devote more time to his family that's always been a big concern of his
Final concert appearance in September 2005? Yea, and first re-appearance in September 2006 after which he will continue spitting in people's sandwiches.
There's a long and proud tradition of music stars announcing short-lived "retirements." I wouldn't put much stock in this one.
Yep. In the Fall of 2008 (after he produces Madonna's comeback album "Rays of Music in Vogue Like a Virgin"), he'll retire to Las Vegas and will do semi-annual shows at Caesar's Palace with Elton John.
What makes you think I can't understand it? Maybe I simply don't see tallent in him? Even if rap required as much tallent as any other form of music, he has nothing to me that is anything above the next mainstream 50-cent-imitation rap artist. Anywho, I don't want to crap my own thread - so
well you just have crapped on your thread! i don't like rap as a general rule but when de la soul came out i liked it and the same applies here ! there is a lot of humour in his work and he has created some very good songs which are not boring like REM or U2 !
I hope to god he doesn't pull a Chris Gaines. I predict a "Return Of Slim Shady" comeback single and album in 2008.
I don't know his music well at all but I do understand that he has quite a bit of talent. Also he supposedly made a terrific movie. I'm sure if you purchased something of his and actually listened to the guy you would find worth.....and maybe even convert.
He's here in Seattle this weekend with 50-cent, and according to yesterday's paper, the show is/was far from sold out...
Looks like they're correct. Out of curiosity, I went on TM online and pulled up 8 tickets together - not great seats, but about halfway back, which is pretty good for 8 together! Unusually, though, I don't do any better if I go for 2 or 1 tickets - I still get seats around the same area...
Well, we still have his albums to enjoy from time to time. Rap isn't something I can play a lot of. I probably play one every few months. Keeps it fresh that way.
