Talent shows must be as old as TV itself (if not Radio, if that's not off topic for Visual Arts). There will be another one along in a minute, wrapped in different clothes. The pandemic put a pause on a lot of live audience TV shows, and some of them we just didn't miss.

Sure - there will be talent shows as long as there is any form of public entertainment.

I do think, though, that this particular variety - the ones that are all about finding a new singing star - are falling out of favour. This could be wishful thinking on my part!

I can't say I watched it much but there were some great singers on the show.
I enjoyed the bad contestants more.

One Direction or JLS would have been very different had those 2 guys been in it, especially the guy on the right lol
Cheryl Cole is very attractive, enough reason to watch that show for me

I have watched it. Most folks I know would only watch the auditions for the bad stuff and then turn off. I'm kinda the opposite. I don't wanna watch no cringy freak fest. I'd watch the later competition stages.
There was a fascination to it, but I think it was bad for music in general. I don't think I ever saw any contestants with what I'd actually call X factor. Goes to show how rare that is. Or that anyone with any class wouldn't lower themselves enough to do the show.

A family would all get together to watch TOTP back in the day, it got replaced by karaoke singers and laughing at fools. Not sad to see them go.
