oh my god! yessssss! i love mute!
My guess is CD/DVD, as they mention a 2 disc set (SACD would be dual layer, no?) and a "specially commissioned short film."
Vinyl is probably right out.
The Mute Depeche Mode releases in the rest of the world were Hybrid SACD/DVD, CD/DVD here in NA. Maybe the same?
maybe just like the depeche mode reissues...with sacd 2chhybrids along with the 5.1 dvd in europe...vinyl did come later with those titles...i guess we wait anxiously for details sounds pretty comprehensive with singles and extra film
Please, please make them SACD this time Mute (re: Yazoo) and I will love you forever!
I'm not a Nick Cave fan myself but I'm glad to see that there is still life in 5.1!
My Cave purchases stalled at 'The Good Son.' This might just be the excuse I need to delve into the later albums.
(Guess this treatment for the Birthday Party/Boys Next Door albums would be to much to ask, huh?)
Uh...but, the redbook CD layer is gonna use the original mix, though, right? 'Cause, if not; then maybe I won't bother.
Several of the later releases are among his best IMHO, particularly 'Let Love In' and 'The boatman's Call.' And his latest is his best in years.
Please God give me From Her To Eternity and Tender Prey remixed!!!!!!
(not to sound blasphemous - maybe I should say "Please God, provide inspiration to the person who assigns the task of remixing those albums to a very talented person)
They've been playing cuts on the radio... this is strong stuff!... enough to finally get me off my can and start a NC&TBS collection once and for all.
Nocturama is the loudest CD I've had in my playlist recently.
The quiet songs are bad, the energetic songs are just a distorted mess.
Will Nick Cave in hi-rez be another Genesis "if only they had done it right"?
nocturama isn't a very good album though anyway. the albums after that have sounded much better.
anyway, I've never ever had a problem with the sound on any of these; I'm a big fan, but I can't see shelling out for these releases. I don't do music in 5.1 and Cave's music, for the most part, doesn't seem suited to it either...so this just seems weird to me.
Dig!!! Lazarus Dig!!! is the best sounding "modern" Rock CD I've heard in years.
It's stunning, brilliant, funny, haunting and beautiful.
One of the best albums of 2008.
And when the remixes/remasters are out, the hunt for the superior first pressings will begin
Can't wait for Let Love In.
Hopefully there will be stereo high resolution versions...
...because according to legend, all remasters are vastly inferior to their 80's & early 90's counterparts...
Man, this is great news. I hope they're done like the Depeche Mode releases, although it would be nice to be able to get the SACDs in the US. If not, I'll just import them again. Thanks for the news!
Wow. I look forward to buying a new copy of The Boatman's Call.
I would have to disagree. I DO do music in 5.1 and know what is best suited for 5.1. If mixed right (and that's the biggest caveat), Nick Cave would be spectacular in surround sound! Now Birthday Party.....maybe not so much.
If I wasn't into surround sound, I too wouldn't be shelling out for these. But I am. And I will.
hmv.com has these now slated for March 23rd...not much on details or artwork but a date at least!
http://thequietus.com/articles/01116-full-nick-cave-the-bad-seeds-reissue-details new details!!! anyone dying for these like i am?
I plan on picking these up, I hope they are mastered well. Hopefully SACD/DVD combo's like the Depeche Mode imports.
Man the next month is looking expensive. These Nick Cave 5.1s, the new U2 (still debating that overpriced deluxe box), the first batch of AF gold cds, the Who Sell Out deluxe, new one from Neko Case, new Queensryche, the new remastered Stormbringer.. I think Im forgetting some too, ouch. Can't wait!
Although they don't give much information at all - on amazon.co.uk they indicate the special editions are Special Edition/+DVD. Doesn't tell much at all whether these are hi-def (SACD or DVD-Audio) does it?
Given that Mute declined to do SACD for the Yazoo set, I am doubting it on these. They also recently dropped SACD from the new run of Depeche Mode 2-discs.
