I'm pretty sure Eric's involvement in his 'autobiography' was limited to sitting down with his ghostwriter and spilling a few beans. Like most celebrities who publish memoirs, he lacks the skillset and the discipline needed to write an intelligible and well-paced book. A few people have complained that Clapton's book contains very little about music but I'd hesitate to blame him for that - the market place for that book was not serious music fans but people wanting something to read while on holiday. and those people want to know about Pattie/George/heroin/booze, not Strats and Ernie Ball strings.

From an NBC interview (I heard or read him say this elsewhere also. How much of his statement is accurate?):

“It was like I was writing a letter to myself,” he said of the book. “We started out with a ghostwriter, and then I had to rewrite it because ghostwriting allowed me to blame people.”

I’m going to see EC in October. Sure hope he’s not touring for this album :nyah:

I heard this CD was available for free at Starbucks with a cup of coffee.

This must be some belated April fools joke... is there any pop/rock Christmas cd that doesn't sound like a cynical cash grab?

Go to the website, it's a Christmas Box, with cd, drawings, and ornaments.

I don't know if it's just me, but it seems like White Christmas will perfectly fit his vocal style.

Well I love Clapton and I love Xmas, so bring it on! :hide:

I agree the packaging leaves a bit to be desired.
The deluxe edition is almost as absurd as one of those Flaming Lips sets.

It would probably sell well at a Hallmark store.

I'm buying this for review but not until December.

Not picked up any new Clapton since '94. That's certainly not going to change this year.

Maybe a bunch of others have put out Xmas LP's in years gone by. That doesn't make it (or them) a good thing.

Dear Santa, please could I have a Clapton LP for Xmas that I want to hear more than once? Ta.

I have picked up every new Clapton album on release date since about 2007 & I might keep up with that with this release. The wife loves Christmas music and so I’m hoping that Eric might give us something we both can enjoy.

Surprised there hasn’t been any promotion at all since the announcement - no preview tracks, no videos, no interviews, etc. Eric seems to be wanting to drop this without any fanfare, hopefully the music is good.

It seems to be a little heavier on electric blues/rock than his last two regular albums were.

Maybe we will get a couple of breakouts from this disc at the garden this weekend!

Christmas albums are difficult. The selling window is so short. Would expect to hear something over the next few weeks but then its put it in the shops/online retailers then start to promote in November. I'll be grabbing the cd.

Don't forget, Eric had a USB with his last album I Still Do.

We don't know who cut this album yet. We do know that it's 2 discs at 45 rpm, similar to I Still Do. For all we know, it could be mastered by Grundman.
