Just saw it earlier, doesn't hold a candle to the original. Typical horror remake that's long on gore and short on tension.

I don't blame you. Even though I wasn't expecting much, I'm such an Evil Dead fan that knew I was gonna end up seeing this anyway.

did you really expect it to be better than the original? I wouldn't, but the original has charms...long on Gore...sounds great!;)

I'm hearing it stinks. Unless you like modern movie gore. The original is still one of the classics of the genre. Hate when they attempt to do an update and it fails miserably.

Cabin In The Woods is still the best update of that genre.

Of course I didn't expect it to be better than the original. Doesn't mean I couldn't hope for it to be good. The remakes of The Hills Have Eyes and Dawn of the Dead were good, so I know it can be done.

Also, the original Evil Dead has more than "charms", it has craft.

If it doesn't follow Ash, I want no part of it. But I do want to see the effects.

I want to hate it just on principal but have to admit that the trailor showed some promise. No CGI and from the looks of it, actors who don't look like they've just stepped off the set from a teen soap opera....... we'll see.

If you can't see what Raimi's doing, or at least appreciate some of the shots in that movie, then you're just not paying attention.

I'm sorry to read that a couple of you didn't like it.
I didn't get to go Friday so I'm aiming for Sunday.
I just have to see it myself. For me, I consider it a
new movie, I'm not going to compare it to the original.
It's getting good reviews at Rotten Tomatoes and
horror movie don't usually do that. I'm still stoked to see it.:)

I am off in a few to see it. Can't wait. I am just not sure if I want to get something to eat before going to see it.

  16. Don't be too concerned. Most of the goriest scenes take place under sketchy lighting conditions, so the movie ends up being less gruesome than the initial reviews indicated.

"Utterly and Astoundingly Awesome", according a "critic" quoted in the TV ad.

That alone is enough for me to pass on this one.

Just got back and I have never been more let down from a film. Not scary and I have seen more gore on any given episode of the Walking Dead.

Looks like crap. Typical modern over-use of CGI. Unnecessary re-make. Dearth of new ideas. Desecration of the original.

There is no CGI in the film.

There is no CGI in it. It actually has a decent look to it. A big letdown otherwise.

My brother and some friends are coming over and we are going to watch Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2 and Army Of Darkness to get the bad taste out of our mouths.

  24. I enjoyed it. Honestly, I think it has to do with the expectations you have walking into the theater. Very little humor but I did like some of the new plot elements introduced. When I was watching it though I kept think that Cabin In The Woods was like an unofficial remake anyway.mi did like that better but the director did go n a different direction.

As far as it being as gory as an episode of Walking Dead....I was happy wth the level in the film as it fit the drama although

Really? It has that awful video game sheen that most new movies have. Real digital looking.
