In the mid-eighties I bought tickets to a Pretenders concert at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, OK. I was really excited about the concert. The venue was a few minutes drive from my house and when I got there the parking lot was empty. I thought I screwed up the date or something. I walked inside and went up to the box office and was informed that the show was cancelled due to lack of ticket sales. I never did end up seeing them live.

Anybody else get burned by a cancelled show?

Flaming Lips with Primus. Tornado put the kibosh on it. The Flaming Lips did reschedule but without Primus.

Bob Dylan due to lack of ticket sales.

That would have been a great show.

Being from Norman, I got to see a lot of Flaming Lips concerts!

The theater company or whatever went belly up before the show. No show and no refund.

    Roy Orbison before his comeback,
He was supposed to play one of those outdoor free neighborhood summer festival things near me, but concelled.

Absolutely. I made a similar thread about this too.

Canceled show, never got to see the band/artist afterward

I was excited for Motorhead in late 2015. Would've been my first time seeing them, and they were always one of my favorite bands. Lemmy got sick a few days prior and the show got cancelled. Apparently they would do makeup shows the next year, but as we all know he passed on the 28th of December :(

At least I got a headlining Saxon show out of it, plus a signed setlist by the band!

Yeah, I used to live in Norman and now I am in Tulsa so I have seen them quite a bit. Still a fun show and one of my favorite artists.

Donald Fagen cancellation due to illness. But I saw Steely Dan at some point later so I forgave him.

Yeah, I probably should have searched for a similar thread first.

Damn. I need to think of better thread ideas.

Had tix for Deep Purple MKII and Fleetwood Mac in Denver, 1973. Was canceled because somebody got the flu.

I'm still bummed about ... never got to see either line-up.

Due to illness? It seems that the Stones wouldn't have ticket sales problems.

The only example for me is Dum Dum Girls pulling out of supporting Belle and Sebastian in 2015 (I think), and then essentially splitting up a year later.

Lucinda Williams, a number of years ago cancelled her Melbourne concert. I was disappointed, as have not seen her before (or since). I can't hold this against her, as the cancellation was due to her mother passing.

January 1988. Driving from West Lafayette, IN to Indianapolis, IN for the Yes Big Generator tour at Market Square Arena. Had great seats. On the drive there we heard on the radio that the show was cancelled due to Trevor Rabin being sick. So bummed out that it wasn't rescheduled, just flat-out cancelled.

In 1998 or 1999 (can't remember which year anymore) Culture Club was going to come here as part of their reunion tour but the show got canceled due to low ticket sales (I assume). :( Oh well.

So, do you get a refund from all these shows because of "low ticket sales"? If not, my fandom for that particular act would, you know, immediately vaporize.
