I have an original sterling sound Candy-O and it is better than the mofi release. I also have an original Panorama and it sounds as good as the sterling Candy O.
Edited to add that the other MOFI releases sound great.

I ended up selling my copy before I opened it up.

I wonder what would be on the Shake It Up deluxe? I don't really think there is much else they recorded during those sessions. They put an earlier version of
Maybe Baby which almost sounds the same as released version on the Panorama deluxe. They recorded the Iggy Pop and Nightcrawlers cover songs, those have been
released. You would think that maybe Ric O. would put on some of his demo's to fill out a deluxe release.

In a recent interview Ric hinted that he is putting out a best of from his solo years with an additional disc of outtakes and demos'.

Ric also said that he has written new material... maybe a new Cars album?.....Cars' Ric Ocasek on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Missing Benjamin Orr

I saw their act right after Shake It Up was released. I wish they had a live show show from that period. They were hot

I hope those early Heartbeat City versions, One More Time (Early Version of “Why Can’t I Have You”), Baby I Refuse (Early Version of “I Refuse”)
Jacki (Early Version of “Heartbeat City”) are before they worked with Mutt Lange?

Awesome. The bonus tracks on these look more interesting (and there are more of them!) than on the last two reissues. That "Hello Again" 12-inch mix has never been on CD before, right?

In the Cars 1982 show they started the show dark with a long electronic audio lead in to Since Your Gone for like 2 minutes and then it would hit the crescendo like on the record and the band would be there and jump in. I wish they would release that Long intro version, it was mesmerizing.

I like that they added "Tonight She Comes" to "Heartbeat City".

Here is what I have from The Cars on CD:
    • S/T (DCC & Rhino 2 disc deluxe)
    • Candy-O (Mofi)
    • Panorama (HDCD)
    • Shake It Up (Mofi)
    • Heartbeat City (AF)
    • Door To Door (standard US)
    • Just What I Needed Anthology
    • Move Like This
Should I bother with these 4 new expanded editions?

Yea. That's Ben singing. I would have thought that the demo would be Ric O. singing?

So the bonus tracks that are not on JWIN are good and the sound quality is decent? I know these are on the loud side, but I can handle that as long as there isn't audible clipping or bad EQ. Thanks.

My concerns as well. Already have excellent sounding various formats. I'd be grabbing these for the extras only.
Thanks Zen for the heads up :)

Actually, the 12" version of "Hello Again" has been on CD before. It's on a various artists compilation called Lost Mixes: Rare Rock Mixes.

I suspect it’s a Cars demo not a Ric demo. I think they're trying to keep it Cars. I once posted on Facebook that I had read somewhere that Ric’s demo of Panorama was better than the Cars version and Elliot Easton answered “Um....”

I wish they’d put out Ric’s demos though. The closest thing we’ve got is some of the songs on Beatitude and the Moving in Stereo on the Cars Deluxe (Ric & Greg).
Judging by the latter, I suspect most of his home tapes are on the sloppy side....still captivating.
