If you want to see a real documentary ... check out Failure Is Not An Option ... it offers an extraordinary behind-the-scenes look at the development and workings of Mission Control from the Mercury (1957) space program thru the Apollo (1972) ... and shows how the extraordinary exploits of the astronauts were supported by equally impressive work of the engineers at Mission Control ... the documentary was developed in conjunction with Gene Kranz's (the primary flight director during the Gemini and Apollo programs) 2000 book of the same name, so the 100 minute documentary may have been around for awhile ... but I just discovered it ... if you liked the movie Apollo 13, I am confident you will enjoy this documentary ... the History Channel is showing this afternoon (Tue. July 20th) from 3 to 5 CST ...
