Also heard that in this years' "Halloween" ep., the Simpsons meet their '80's "Tracy Ullman short" version of themselves!

Funny I read the same article and would not have characterized it like that.

Anyway, I will watch the episode and hope it is good.

A little slow and obvious although the Duff/Pawtucket Patriot bit was funny.

I don't like Family Guy but there were some good bits. Went on too long.

Funny - I enjoyed it. Loved the references like Homer using the emmies as weapons...

    The experiment worked.

Loved the episode. Very funny and lots of meta jokes. Probably the best bit (and also the most disturbing) was the car wash scene. Worst bit was the chicken fight and totally unnecessary, for Pete's sake. And what the deuce, even Fred Flintstone made an appearance!

A love letter to us 'hard-cores' who watched both show.... and, have kept watching them.
Not bad.... not great, but, not bad.
Better than "The Simpsons Movie", though.

And, what about that 'couch gag' at the beginning of the first "Simpsons"?!?!!
    How weird was THAT?
Is that an artist I don't know about?
Reminded me a little of that old "Rejected" cartoon, from 2000!

Nae too bad, IMHO. The trial scene noting how one beer / animation was a rip-off of the other was good, as was the car wash scene (but very disturbing).

Other things about the episode that played with my head:
    - How divided my mind was to expecting Bart & Lisa to be as 'raunchy' as Stewy & Meg.
    - How difficult it was to hear Walter Murphy's incidental music over the sprawl of Springfield. It just sounded so wrong. I never realized how Alf's music is so integral to The Simpsons.

Certainly not as difficult as it has been, suffering his "A Fifth Of Beethoven", for the past 39 years!

That's so awesome!! :) I'm a big Don Hertzfeldt fan, so it was really cool seeing his animation appear on the show.

Sadly, I'd be willing to guess that 99% of the audience have no idea who DH even is, and didn't "get" the couch gag at all....

I was one of the 99%. Never heard of him.
I had no clue what the heck was going on. I thought I was having my first acid flashback.

Yeah, the main thing that struck me is how strange it was seeing The Simpsons characters interact with the darker and raunchier elements of Family Guy. It really highlighted the differences in tone between the two shows.

:agree: This really struck me as well.

The crossover wasn't the trainwreck it might have been, but the only truly funny part (IMO) was the courtroom scene. I laughed out loud at the James Woods bit.

The Hertzfeldt intro was easily the highlight of the actual Simpsons premiere.

I thought the fight scene dragged out a little too long but overall I enjoyed it.

Loved seeing Fred Flintstone as judge.

    Stewie was funny as always....
