OMD-Secret (New 12 Inch Remix), 1988 The B-side includes the old 12 inch mix and a nice live version of Telegraph
Ha, yes I like that I was totally unfamiliar with the new remasters across the Factory catalogue, so you and others no doubt know exactly what to expect, which is that nothing is relative to original releases, they are loud, bassy and compressed = The New Sound. Seven reviews on Amazon UK all very positive (a must have) and the music magazine publication quotes referenced on the Factory - Benelux site also very positive; "A great education, and a welcome addition to any audiophile's collection - 9.5 out of 10" (DJ Mag, 2/2017) But still a great idea for a release and a very interesting document. Anyways the club also had a certain acoustic characteristic which did not appeal to everyone, many would complain of it being too Boom Boom Boom, although this was also dependent on where you placed yourself (stood / danced), I loved the front of stage area or thereabouts the best (DJ nights). Great clip- out of sync which can be fixed easily with editing software. Happened upon this clip which I think is the same night of the Madonna footage aired on ‘The Tube’, January 1984; Think I now need to go hide in a dark place somewhere, again
The 7" version came up on my random shuffle and I was delighted to find this extended version on YT. I don't even remember this (unarguably) disco cut! But it still kicks.
Why hide? Well, as you can probably glean my tastes run toward club, house and jungle extended mixes - but good ones. Mindless loops send me to the bar. This classic still kicks. Strafe Set It Off
Far and away, with not one of iota of doubt, my all-time favourite is: "Hot Water (Extended Mix)" - Level 42, Producer, Engineer – Ken Scott. Be sure to play it... right. to. the. end!
Aah the mastermix of Hot Water, one of their best. Level 42 had so many great 12 inch versions during their high days in the 80's.
i don't know why people keep repeating that (along with the 12" never made money rumor). when you say 'never', you're wrong. there was a japanese promo 7 inch. ------------------------------------------------------------------ 1984 ( Factory/Nippon Columbia TD-1098 ) [promo] 4 : 09 Blue Monday 4 : 09 Confusion and a polish 7" also: --------------------- PL 1988 ( Tonpress DS-25-A )[Promo Only 60 copies] 5 : 05 Blue Monday also, there were edits (not necessarily on 7 inch), like the video edit, which was released: later -1
....For many records (such ads this) the 1w" version was the original version, with any shorter 7" or LP version an afterthhought. e P, post: 17497274, member: 15809"][/QUOTE]
Being wrong is sometimes better than being right! Though I should add discogs.com lists neither of those. The only 7"s it lists are endless variations of "Blue Monday 1988". Was the Tonpress one legal?
