    Freak off!
i always thought, tho not that long ago as i only came across the term in the Nineties, "FreakBeat" was more "Psych" than "60's US Garage" [as apposED too 90's DJ/Club "Garage"].
Butt than, "60's US Garage" can have "Psych" elements too!!

Wiki tells the tale as you do:

i guess i should just start calling "Garage" ["60's US Garage"] "Garage Rock" too clarify better.

    Enjoy.

This could probably pass for garage. It got some airplay in New York (probably because group member Joel O'Brien's dad was a long-time NYC dee-jay on WMCA). Solid track. O'Brien & Danny "Kootch" Kortchmar went on to form Jo Mama with ex-Clear Light keyboard player Ralph Shuckett and Carole King's ex-husband, Charley Larkey. Of course, Kortchmar was all over so many records by Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor, Jackson Browne and many more.

Chess Records-inspired garage blues released on Sun a full decade after the label's glory years. A cool anomaly.

"Desdemona" by John's Children. Also loved The Mirage w/Dee Murray. Can't remember track names, but all those songs ran together, in a good way.

Not every song mentioned in the thread fits my understanding of "garage", but maybe it's me that's off. Anyway, here's I'm Through With You by the Mark Five:
