Hahahahaha, this 80's music is infectious. Some knock 80's music MTV and all. Trust me if you will if MTV had been around 60's 70's all of the rock hierarchy would have been in constant MTV rotation the same.
Well, if you're interested in comedy records I also put together volume 26 of my CD-R's. This disc is not as long as the others due to limited material but it's a fun listen. Ha! I've been needledropping my Prince + Hall & Oates 12" singles the past two days to create two volumes of Prince 12" singles (at six discs each) and one of Hall & Oates (another 6-disc set).
This is the Julian Mendelsohn remix wich is the best, or better : the one I like the most. I remember it took me a while to discover it in a record shop. The original 12 inch of Need You Tonight only had the regular Need You Tonight / Mediate combo, just like on the album. Just looked it up : Apparantly Need You Tonight was indeed re-released in 1988 with the two remixes. Never cared much for the Ben Liebrand remix but to each his own I guess.
You could add Honeymooners Rap by Joe Piscopo & Eddie Murphy and Rappin' Duke by Shawn Brown to this list - both have "Extended Versions" and would definitely fit the theme here.
I hope you can show me the tracklisting on these sets when they are finished. It's always nice to look at other people's tracklistings when it comes to 12 inch singles.
Indeed. You got the long album version which was used in a Miami Vice episode in season 2. And you got the long live version which includes his daughter on vocals as well. Awesome pumping track.
No prob. I'm finishing up the Hall & Oates needledrops right now, in fact! Truth be told, these will be "Singles Collections" that will, in addition to the 12" versions, contain every unique 7" mix/edit as well as all the B-sides. This is why they're so damn long (especially for Prince!) Anyway, here's the track list for the Hall & Oates set (which goes up through 1988): Disc 1: She's Gone (7" edit) When The Morning Comes (7" edit) Can't Stop The Music (7" edit) Do What You Want, Be What You Are (7" edit) Back Together Again/Kerry - by Stephen Dees (promo 12" edit) Don't Change (7" mix) Do What You Want, Be What You Are (12" promo live edit) Something In 4/4 Time (7" mix) I Don't Wanna Lose You (7" mix) Wait For Me (7" edit) No Brain, No Pain (B-side) Portable Radio (promo 7" edit) Who Said The World Was Fair (7" edit) Running From Paradise (7" edit) How Does It Feel To Be Back (7" edit) You've Lost That Loving Feeling (7" edit) Kiss On My List (7" edit) Kiss On My List (alternate edit) Kiss On My List (extended version) Every Time You Go Away (remix) Disc 2 Private Eyes (UK 7" mix) I Can't Go For That (7" mix) I Can't Go For That (12" mix) I Can't Go For That (alternate edit) Your Imagination (7" mix) Your Imagination (12" mix) Maneater (promo 7" edit) Maneater (12" mix) One On One (7" edit) One On One (promo 7" mix/edit) One On One (12" mix) Family Man (12" mix) Jingle Bell Rock (from Daryl) Jingle Bell Rock (from John) Say It Isn't So (LP version) Say It Isn't So (7" edit) Say It Isn't So (12" mix) Say It Isn't So (dub mix) Disc 3 Adult Education (LP version) Adult Education (7" mix) Adult Education (4:34 Rock Remix) Adult Education (12" mix) Adult Education (promo 12" mix) Wait For Me (live version) Out Of Touch (7" edit) Cold, Dark And Yesterday (early 7" mix) Out Of Touch (12" mix) Out Of Touch (dub) Out Of Touch (video mix) Method Of Modern Love (7" edit) Method Of Modern Love (12" mix) Method Of Modern Love (dub) Disc 4 Some Things Are Better Left Unsaid (12" mix) Some Things Are Better Left Unsaid (instrumental) Possession Obsession (7" mix) Possession Obsession (12" mix) Possession Obsession (dub) Dance On Your Knees (7" mix) Dance On Your Knees (12" mix) Dreamtime (7" mix) Let It Out (7" long version) Dreamtime (12" mix) Dreamtime (dub) Dreamtime (promo 7" edit) Foolish Pride (remix edit) Disc 5 Foolish Pride (12" mix) Foolish Pride (acadubella) Foolish Pride (dub) Someone Like You (7" guitar edit) Someone Like You (7" sax edit) Everything Your Heart Desires (7" mix) Realove (7" mix) Everything Your Heart Desires (video mix) Everything Your Heart Desires (54th Street Extended Remix) Everything Your Heart Desires (If You Want The World Extended Remix) Everything Your Heart Desires (54th Street Edit) Everything Your Heart Desires (7th Avenue Remix) Everything Your Heart Desires (No Words Can Help Dub Mix) Disc 6 Missed Opportunity (7" mix) Soul Love (7" mix) Missed Opportunity (Unlimited Mix) Missed Opportunity (Radio Mix) Missed Opportunity (Smooth Mix) Downtown Life (Urban Mix) Downtown Life (Downtown Remix) Downtown Life (Baccapella) Downtown Life (Radio Remix) Downtown Life (Dubtown Life) Talking All Night (Extended Remix) Talking All Night (a capella) Talking All Night (radio remix) Talking All Night (dub) I should note that I will substitute a CD version of a mix if I have it (such as the promo Everything Your Heart Desires CD single or the Japanese 12" Collection CDs). I could make a "bonus" seventh disc to include the eight "Hold On To Yourself" remixes, along with later remixes of I Can't Go For That, but I like stopping at six discs, as that's the largest jewel case I own! BTW, I think I got everything here, but please let me know if I missed anything. Thanks!
OK, I'm intrigued. Do they actually have any music videos with them in it? I like "Ray" a lot. Checked out some of their other work. They were just around for a few years in the late 80's - early 90's? Thanks Jeff, Cory!
[See Jeffmo reply.] I didn't get into Wolfgang Press' music either. Too "hippy trippy" for me, for lack of a better description, but at least they have actual videos to see on YouTube! It was challenging to follow/collect before the Internet wasn't it? But so rewarding!!!
A jewel indeed. My god what an amazing list. I have to confess that i also like to collect original 7" versions because most of the time they contain unique single remixes. This Hall & Oates collection is maybe the best i've seen so far and it goes to show that the fans most of the times are better in compiling compilations than the record company's do.
Yes it is. On some Pete compilations. One of them is Truancy, The Very Best Of Pete Townshend, released last year. It contains the full album version.
Yep, just three full lengths John, Wide Awake being the last, I love Tim's sense of humor I just upped this, a neat little gem of yore from 98, Sorry Dave, not meaning to sidetrack
Fantastic! Just curious, is "Kiss in My List (Extended Version)" the same thing as "Kiss on My List (Previously Unreleased Mix)" on the Japanese 12 inch collection Vol. 2? Or was there an actual vinyl extended version back in the day?
Figures on A Beach-No Stars, 1987 Has a nice B-Side 'Eternal Repetition' As much as like Ivan Ivan, his mixes do seem to exhibit a 'sameness'
Sigue Sigue Sputnik-Success, 1988 (12 Inch Dance Mix) Labeled for US, UK labels it as the 12 Inch Extended 80's wrapped up all in one tune
