You have Down Under on one of your comps, but I didn't see this:

It sounds like a "razormaid"-type edit of the album version. Unofficial. Probably from this release:

The Steve Miller Band* - Abracadabra

Wonder if there's an extended Iko Iko out there somewhere.

No just a 7 inch release. Haven't heard that song in decades, thanks for the memory kick :)

There is. Unfortunately, it's overpowered by extra percusssion and loops; a wasted opportunity (in my opinion).

EDIT - I see you've already been introduced

Just when i think i get the best 12 inches of the 80's you guys surprise me with even more great 80's longies. Thanks. This has turned to be a great (and long) thread but in the end you can make your own 12 inches set(s) with some ideas from this thread!

My favourite 12" version of all time, crimally not available digital anywhere, apart from a Japanese import that was apparently transferred from the vinyl anyway. It complete changes the dynamic of the song, the original is quite upbeat, this is a lot harder and darker.

Followed closely by the dazzling layers...

I give the edge to the Carnage mix. My favorite Frankie song. I have the picture disc of it.

Thanks! The running time on both of those seems like it could be the Steve Nye Remix version! I will have to somehow check out if this is the real deal. They tried to put it on a CD years ago but only managed to put one channel on it, so the whole compilation is in mono mixed down from a single right channel only. A total disaster of epic proportions.

The original 12" mix was done by John Punter and has a different tone to it.

John Luongo has 665 listings on Discogs...and this is one of them. It deserves to be heard. Truly one of the oddest one-hitters of the 80's.

The extended "Perfect Kiss" on New Order's Substance is awesome, as are all the extended mixes of the singles from Alphaville's Forever Young album (happily available on a So80s collection).

I scored a rare 12" of this about 20 years ago, before '80s material became super collectable again. Always loved this record, a very interesting early fusion I've always thought of synth pop and rap.
