Road Warrior for me. Haven't seen the new(ish) one, a bit hesitant even though the reviews are good. Beyond Thunderdome still has me a bit gun-shy decades later.

A lot of good ones have already been named, but I'd add:

    Rambo
    The Matrix
    Death Race 2000
    Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol
    The Dark Knight
    Avengers (1st film)
    Duel
    On Her Majesty's Secret Service
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

You should love Fury Road if you liked any of the other Mad Max films.

The new is amazing. Highly recommended if you like Road Warrior.

And how did I forget Snake Plissken's first Escape from.... movie?

Tsui Hark's "Time and Tide". Everyone tries to top that scene of the shootout while rappelling down the side of a buildng. No one can.

Another one just comes to mind, because it is actually playing on TCM right now - Westworld.

Does "Captain Blood" with Errol Flynn, Olivia de Havilland, Basil Rathbone and Lionel Atwill count? Or for a 10 minute clip the Charge of the Light Brigade in Flynn's movie of the same name?

If forced to choose more recent films "Die Hard" and "Commando".

This. The Raid is absolutely incredible.

The fight scenes in Raid 2 looked puny compared to the first one. Think the Welsh director attempted too much in the follow up. Can't see a USA version topping it.

My favorite action movie of all time is Mad Max : Fury Road. Only time in YEARS I felt exhilarated watching an action movie, to the point I wanted to cheer in the movie theater. A much-needed antidote to CGI overkill.

Fury Road is better than Max Max 2.

The Bourne trilogy (haven't seen the Legacy) and at least Casino Royale of the Daniel Craig 007 reboot. All of them let me just barely get my breath before plunging back into superbly choreographed and photographed mayhem.

Of course, there are many more, but these came off the top of my head.

The first three films that popped into my mind were:

    Raiders of the Lost Ark
    Aliens
    Drunken Master 2

...so I am going to stick with those until something else pops into my mind tomorrow.

I can't choose among the original trilogy; kinda like a three-part saga for me. I think if I ever binged and watched 'em all together, I'd have a heart attack.

I may have to start making a list. I love rockem sockem action flicks.

I'll add "District B13" as among one of my favorites and it may be time for me to watch that one again. :)

We did that, watching the three over a weekend. I was amazed to spot the fact the first part of the trilogy showed computer users using Windows 2000. Yes, it was THAT long ago!

I like the Indiana Jones movies too, particularly the first, but a couple of more recent action movies have caught my attention:

UNSTOPPABLE - a corker of a runaway train movie with Denzel Washington and Chris Pine. Edge of your seat stuff the whole way.
NON-STOP - a similarly named airplane movie with one of those on again/off again whodunits. Liam Neeson's in the lead, with DOWNTON's Lady Mary as the head flight attendant.
