    What's your favorite "co-headlining" tour?
A tour where two established acts got equal time & billing.

Me - Lynyrd Skynrd & ZZ Top in 99 was pretty sweet.
+ it was back before ticket prices got too jacked up.
    Seen it twice. :righton:

I saw The Catherine Wheel and The House of Love in 1992. Sparsely attended due to poor promotion and inclement weather. Excellent nevertheless.
Also saw Dinosaur Jr and My Bloody Valentine in '92. MBV were unreal.

An amazing night. Judas Priest touring Screaming For Vengeance with Maiden touring Number Of The Beast. Still in my top 5 concerts all time, and will remain there. Saw the tour in Portland, Maine.

Blue Oyster Cult/Black Sabbath, Black and Blue tour 1980.

BOC was good, but Sabbath was a face-melting powerhouse.

I don't count Bowie and NIN. Bowie was the headliner on the Outside Tour (the clue is in the name).

Grandaddy and Super Furry Animals (USA, 2003) was a wonderful double-header.

True! I looked to see how posters billed the show, and the one I found said "David Bowie with Very Special Guests NIN", so you're correct that this makes Bowie the headliner.

Sure didn't play that way in reality (no pun intended) - those crowds were mostly there to see NIN! Bowie was the nominal headliner but he wasn't the act most people wanted to see...

When did Prince tour with the Who? Are you thinking of the handful of shows in 1981 when Prince opened for the Stones?

If so, that only happened for a few concerts, and Prince was clearly the opening act - in no way was that a "co-headlining" show. Prince was essentially unknown back then - and I don't think the Stones have ever done a true "co-headlining" tour. Even when they've had superstar opening acts, it's still clear that the Stones were the headliners...

Ala Prince and the Stones, that was only a few shows, not a tour - and they weren't "co-headlining" shows. The Who were the headliners and the Clash opened...

As recent shows go, Levon Helm and John Fogerty (2011) was spectacular.

Man, I tried hard to find a "co-headlining" tour I liked but I couldn't come up with any that really fit the bill.

The shows I've been to that had two big-name acts were still slanted clearly toward one of those acts. For instance, I saw Aerosmith and ZZ Top - while ZZ Top played a longer set than one would expect from an opener, Aerosmith still played longer and were clearly the headliners.

Bowie/NIN 1995 is the best "near miss" - those were great shows! But as noted, Bowie was the headliner, even if the crowd felt differently! :D
