High N Dry, by a long mile. Criminally underrated in my opinion, or at least overlooked. I would really have liked to get a few more records of this high octane hard rock from Leppard. Sadly, for me, by Pyromania they were already all but leaving this style behind.

    1. High 'n' Dry (1981),Pyromania (1983),Hysteria (1987) were the best three albums the band ever did. In fact one of the first albums i ever owned was Pyromania it was a birthday gift for my 8th birthday in March 1983. I also loved the rawness of High N Dry as well as the polished coolness of Hysteria that one had a lot of great tunes. Adrenalize to me was a subpar attempt to recreate Hysteria it was nowhere near as good.

    Hysteria.
Played the cassette to death in 1988.
This year I bought the 2xLP and realised just how good it still is.

Love the new reissued 2 lp set. Great sound. Got an extra copy, price was right so I had to get a spare.

This. And then followed by Pyromania, and that's it for me. ;)

Pyromania the perfect balance between High and Dry and Hysteria and opened the door for an entire new sub genre of Hard Rock.

On Through the Night is easily my favorite. Love the NWOBHM sound of it. 2nd is Pyromania and 3rd High 'n' Dry, both of which are great as well. I'd rather not comment on their stuff after that.

High n Dry is my fave by a wide margin. Great record. The other stuff is too perfect, to worked over. Not rock n roll enough for me. And the first one isn't quite there yet to me. High n Dry rocks.

Hysteria, closely followed by Pyromania. Both absolutely incredible albums.

Thirty Five years ago on this date (today), Def Leppard released "Pyromania".

    All Killer...No Filler!

Plus you can thank Def Leppard for every lazy pop-metal band that came along in the 80's.

Suddenly Synth's and hook-chorus's were all over the place. Only thing the others didn't have was a Steve Clark.

Def Leppard changed the way rock bands made music and the way the music sounded.

Bon Jovi should be kissing Leppard"s **** when they make the acceptance speech at their RORHOF induction.

Just turn on your radio for proof.

Pyromania, and that's down to Pete Willis, whose great riffs are pretty much the foundation for that record. And you can tell this by his subsequent absence--stylistically they were never the same after he left.

Steve Clark... what a player! I think he was the most soulful artist in Def Leppard with a very tasteful approach and a kind of swagger the rest of them boys only could dream of!
I wouldn't have wondered if he'd left them and do his own thing, if only he'd have survived. It surely would have been a joy to listen to more of his output!

Pyromania for me. Though I love High n Dry, and the Hysteria gig I saw was great. I just feel Pyromania has a great balance.

On Through the Night followed closely by High N Dry. Pyromania in 3rd. The rest I skip. No disrespect intended but I had enough of them after Hysteria. I recently found a NM LP of On Through the Night. Sounded so good.

Hysteria, for me, although I love them all. Wifey and I collect art and we just added an original Rick Allen piece to our collection. I was so excited to get it, and it looks amazing on the wall!

He will be coming to town soon to promote his artwork and I am super excited to get to meet him. Just want to thank him for making music and art that I love :)
