Is there an enterprising fan on here who'd be willing to do an ELO album-by-album thread? It sounds like a lot of people might enjoy it and it will help me get better acquainted with their catalog. I have a bunch of the LPs but have mostly listened to them without a sense of the band's narrative or any kind of depth. It looks like someone tried to do one but it was abandoned early on.

The OP keeps changing his name. But yes he stated someone else could re-boot it if one wanted to.
I may have volunteered our resident ELO genius, but I think it primarily stalled due to burnout

The song that comes immediately to my mind is:

And conveniently, they're all on the same LP. :p

I gotta hand it to Jeff Lynne, he's sure got the knack of writing some strong ear-worms. I spent quite a while with 'Showdown' and 'Evil Woman' buzzing around my head.

I’ve always said All Over The World was the best song ELO did on the Xanadu soundtrack. Much better than stodgy stuff like The Fall and Don’t Walk Away.

Hmmm... that's a tough one, but off the top of my head I'd have to say "Waterfall" , "One Summer Dream", "Showdown" and "El Dorado".

Since my list in sept '16 I have delved much deeper into this band that I've always loved. I have a UK first pressing of the debut LP which now ties with Face The Music as my favorite album of theirs. I would definitely replace "Starlight" on my list with "Nightrider", which in the last year has become my favorite ELO song there is. I've also finally taken a real liking to "Showdown", a song that was only ever 'ok' to me.

Agreed! Given the love on this forum for Out of The Blue, I'm surprised that more peole don't love this song.

Can easily say I will now trade in a couple of these for this one...

Cannot get enough of the Secret Messages album at the moment. Need to get the Afterglow and Flashback box sets too. I have none of the outtakes! Damn you remaster allergy!

Thanks! Means a lot when someone else loves the same tune. It's just such a strong track. I think it's Kelly singing the bridge to the chorus (?) "I can't seem to get to you" either way, it's a mind blower and that bit is wonderful. Gets me every time

If "Big Wheels" doesn't get more love in this thread I will seriously have to challenge the taste level of SHF members for the very first time.
