"This is typical. Absolutely typical... of the kind of... **** I have to put up with from you people! You ponce in here expecting to be waited on hand and foot, while I'm trying to run a hotel here! Have you any idea of how much there is to do? Do you ever think of that? Of course not! You're all too busy sticking your noses into every corner, poking about for things to complain about, aren't you? Well let me tell you something - this is exactly how Nazi Germany started! A lot of layabouts with nothing better to do than to cause trouble! Well, I've had fifteen years of pandering to the likes of you, and I've had enough! I've had it! Come on, pack your bags and get out!"

    [Really? It auto-bleeped that??]

    Jeannie!Jeannie!Get me outta here!

Major Anthony Nelson (Larry Hagman) shouted that phrase many times over to "Jeannie" (Barbara Eden) in the funniest grooviest sitcom ever produced.

The 1960s gem I Dream Of Jeannie.

I could pick any of a score of Seinfeld lines off the top of my head. But the one that gets the most use around my house is George Steinbrenner grumbling to himself as someone enters his office:

"What is it with these people? All day long..."

The following exchange from the The John Larroquette Show:

John: [as he is about to have a drink with his new neighbor Carly] Cheers.

    Carly Watkins: Seinfeld.

The reason that’s my favorite exchange is that, just a few weeks before that episode aired, a co-worker greeted me with “Cheers” and I responded “Seinfeld.” And the Larroquette episode was not a repeat so I hadn’t seen it before.

(When my co-worker asked why I answered that way, I said, “I dunno, I guess ’cause Cheers is generally considered the best ’80s sitcom and Seinfeld is the best ’90s one.” :))

Frank: I was cleaning my weapon and it discharged prematurely...sir, I think the Chinese have abducted Major Houlihan!
Potter: I see, so naturally you shot Captain Hunnicut.

Briscoe had some great lines. I love Law & Order but they really should have packed it in after Jerry Orbach left/died...that said, I'm toying with the idea of doing a Law & Order season by season discussion (just the original series, not the spinoffs) along the lines of my M*A*S*H discussion. We'll see.

I would very much enjoy a Law & Order season by season.

He's investigating at a snooty private school. The headmaster, asserting its augustness as an excuse to hide the rich families' secrets, sniffs, "This school is over 100 years old."

Lenny replies, "Well, our institution is even older than that."

In the TV show Soap, Jodie (Billy Crystal) is gay, his step-father Bert (Richard Mulligan) is excited because Jodie went out to dinner with a woman and he didn't come until the next morning thinking he learned about the straight life and says to Jodie, "Now you know why they write those songs"

I don't even have children, but this was unforgettable...

Darlene is complaining about having to do special things for Roseanne because it's Mother's Day. "Why can't there be a... Kid's Day?"

Dan - in a flat, burned-out tone - explains, "Darlene, when you're older, you'll learn that every day is Kid's Day."

This is from memory, so feel free to make corrections:

In Northern Exposure, Anthony Edwards has moved to Cicely. He has a rare medical condition which makes him intensely allergic, so he lives in a geodesic dome with an airlock. O'Connell's curiosity is piqued, wondering about human contact in such an isolated condition. She discusses this with Fleischman, asking about what if he wanted to receive "a massage or something"...Fleischman is somewhat skeptical ("a massage, O'Connell?"), and she accuses him of thinking dirty. His reply:

"I'm thinking dirty, O'Connell? You're the one that wants to hot wax the Elephant Man!"

Ralph: [opens a Christmas present] Spats? What did you get me spats for?
Norton : Let's face it, Ralph. You're not the easiest person to shop for. What do you get the man who has... [gestures at Ralph's size] ...everything?
Ralph: That's all right, Norton. I know it came from your heart.
Norton: No, it didn't. It came from the fat man shop.

The 12th Doctor: "This is a scale model of war! Every war ever fought, right there in front of you! Because it's always the same! When you fire that first shot, no matter how right you feel, you have no idea who's going to die! You don't know whose children are going to scream and burn! How many hearts will be broken! How many lives shattered! How much blood will spill until everybody does what they were always going to have to do from the very beginning: Sit — down — and — talk!"
