Most everybody has a favorite lyric if they think about it. My favorite would be from Chuck Berry's "Reelin' And Rockin'"-

"Well I looked at my watch and to my surprise...I was dancing with a woman that was twice my size."

That line just seems to catch the essence of the old school Rock & Roll from so long ago that got my attention in the first place.

So many to choose from. First lyric that comes to mind is:

What do you see when you turn out the light?
    I can't tell you, but I know it's mine.

I really like the lyrics to Marc Cohn's song Walking In Memphis.

    "Now, Muriel plays the piano
    Every Friday at the Hollywood
And they brought me down to see her
And they asked me if I would
    Do a little number
And I sang with all my might
She said, 'Tell me are you a Christian, child?'
    And I said, 'Ma'am, I am tonight!"

I've always found this rhyme scheme utterly charming:

These are some kick-ass lines from Elvis Costello's "Tokyo Storm Warning"

"The sky fell over cheap Korean monster-movie scenery
And spilled into the mezzanine of the crushed capsule hotel
Between the Disney abattoir and the chemical refinery
I knew I was in trouble but I thought I was in hell
So you look around the tiny room and you wonder where the hell you are
While the KKK convention are all stranded in the bar
They wear hoods and carry shotguns in the main streets of Montgomery
But they're helpless here as babies 'cause they're only here on holiday"

Then take me disappearin' through the smoke rings of my mind
Down the foggy ruins of time, far past the frozen leaves
The haunted, frightened trees, out to the windy beach
Far from the twisted reach of crazy sorrow
Yes, to dance beneath the diamond sky with one hand waving free
Silhouetted by the sea, circled by the circus sands
With all memory and fate driven deep beneath the waves
Let me forget about today until tomorrow.
