Another five, again listed chronologically, but this time with brief commentary added (not sure whether it's welcome or not):

    6. Yojimbo (1961) - possibly my favorite Akira Kurosawa/Toshiro Mifune flick, and I think the main one John Belushi based his Samurai spoof on
    7. Carnival of Souls (1962) - a more cerebral horror flick, perfect for Halloween, which sort of plays like an extended episode of The Twilight Zone
    8. The Haunting (1963) - a very creepy movie, pointlessly remade years later...stick with this classic original!
    9. From Russia With Love (1963) - for my money, the best of the James Bond franchise
    10. A Shot in the Dark (1964) - probably my favorite of "The Pink Panther" movies, although The Pink Panther Strikes Again maybe ties with it

Ten great Japanese films of the 1960s:

When a Woman Ascends the Stairs (Mikio Naruse, 1960)
Funeral Parade of Roses (Toshio Matsumoto, 1969)
An Autumn Afternoon (Yasujirō Ozu, 1962)
    Late Autumn (Yasujirō Ozu, 1960)
Woman in the Dunes (Hiroshi Teshigahara, 1964)
Branded to Kill (Seijun Suzuki, 1967)
    Harakiri (Masaki Kobayashi, 1962)
Eros + Massacre (Kijū Yoshida, 1969)
Profound Desires of the Gods (Shohei Imamura, 1968)
    A Soldier’s Prayer (Masaki Kobayashi, 1961)*

*I wanted to include The Human Condition trilogy in the 1950s thread, but the series straddles into the 1960s. This is the most powerful part, anyway.

I’m also going to throw this one into the mix, as I think it’s a remarkable achievement, and I believe it may otherwise go unmentioned:

The Colour of Pomegranates (Sergei Parajanov, 1969)
