I wont lie I know nothing about contemporary psychedelia except from the 80s when there was a underground surge for the genre.
I can strongly suggest these artists from that decade.
    1.The Nomads (Norwegian psych-punk) 5 stars
Dream Syndicate Velvets meet Creedence psychedelia
3.Plan 9( all great.start with Dealing with the Dead 5 stars. Can be found on Plan 9 web site.
4.Hoo Doo Gurus&Lime Spiders from Australian psychedelia 4.5 stars.
    5.Rain Parade & True West(LA psychedelia 4.5 stars
    7.The Soft Boys & Robyn Hitchcock(together&solo) 5 stars
This is most of what IMO is essential 80s psychedelia.Again the SQ is great on all of these recordings.Happy hunting.Peace.[/QUOTE]Thanks.If you adhere to these lists you will truly have the beggining of a superb collection without blowing your bread on all the subpar stuff out there.

Then The Deep - Psychedelic Mood and 13th first must be only ones to count.

The original vinyl release of CQ by The Outsiders is just as good IMO. As are some of the concurrent singles like
"Do You Feel Alright?" (the only song I've ever heard that mentions 'Bond' actor Roger Moore).

A slight correction for the record if you allow - the Nomads are a Swedish band (believe me, these things matter in our neck of the woods!).

I gotta admit, I never considered them to be especially psychedelic though. Garage rawk, if anything. But in my opinion they were one of the best bands of the Eighties, regardless of genre.

Haven't seen this mentioned here, but I was recently turned-on to Twentieth Century Zoo - Thunder On A Clear Day GREAT album! I heard a song of theirs on the excellent "Psychedelic Disaster Whirl" comp, but a lot of those bands only put out a couple singles or so... but this band put out a full album and it's GREAT. A bit of a concept album, loads of fuzz, great guitar.... Just stumbled upon this, SO good.

Always thought Bee Gees 1st had elements of psychedelia flavor.

Thats correct from Sweden. But their debut 5 song EP "Where the Wolf Bane Blooms &the following LP " Temptation Pays Double" is pure Garage-Psychedelia ala Chocolate Watch Band in its purest form.I suggest you seek out the book I edited in 1983 "Psychedelia" for more info on this genre of music.Perhaps you will begin to see things differently.Or maybe not.Peace.

Wrong it started in 1965 and ended in 1968.Seek out the book I edited in 1983 the highly regarded "Psychedelia" for more info on this genre. Are you even vaguely familiar the NY bands the Fugs&the Godz? You should do your research before tossing out incorrect statements.Peace.
Note:The dates on the thread were for neophytes who seem to think 1970s Pink Floyd are Psychedelic when in truth they are not. That and the sake of disputers.Peace.

Actually their most inherently Psychedelic LP is the debut The Doors. The song "The End" & the LP version of "Light My Fire" is as psychedelic as the Doors ever got.Peace.

Again do your research 5 from 68 that are unqualified psychedelic masterpieces
1.Great Society Conspicuous Only In Its Absence(Recorded 66 released 68 to capitalize on Grace Slicks JA popularity.
    2.Capt Beefheart Strictly Personal
    3.Mad River(self titled)
    4.Kaleidoscope Beacon From Mars
    5.HP Lovecraft 2
These are just a few from 1968.So whatever your soure of data is its inherently wrong.Extremely wrong.Again do more research.Peace.
