I admire your great list here and your very eclectic musical taste. I too truly love Johnny Mathis's velvet like voice as well and my first and longest lasting music memory is listening to his iconic Merry Christmas album growing up as a kid. My oldest daughter now insists that this album is playing before the gift opening ever takes place. I also am a huge fan of Jeff Buckley's amazing voice as well as the great Nina Simone!

I think that my first exposure to the great Nina Simone was in that great thriller Point Of No Return with Bright Fonda. A great film and of course the heroine plays her music several times in that film as played by Ms. Fonda. Ms. Simone of course cut the most famous version of Feeling Good, which Michael Bublé put back into the pop mainstream with his very nice cover. A truly remarkable voice, and I finally purchased one of her CD's about a year ago as her great music was missing in action in my music library for some unknown reason.

I’m really glad that you brought that up, oddly enough, I don’t have any of her stuff, a few digital versions but that’s it. I get so caught up with music of today, I sometimes look right passed .. the stuff from the past. Again, glad you commmented on that

    Some more of my favorites
Ros Sereysothea - Cambodian 60’s garage rock singer who died during the Khmer Rouge. Fortunately, her music is preserved.

Noraniza Idris - Malaysian traditional pop singer who uses a lot of accordion, caklempong and synths in her music. Her 80’s material is not for people who dislike synthesized horns and accordions.
    NORANIZA & ABDULLAH..hidup bersama (1988)
Siti Nurhaliza - a popular Malaysian pop and (mostly) Muslim qasidah religious singer. Similar music to Noraniza Idris with more accordion.
Siti Nurhaliza - Cindai (Official Music Video - HD)
    Those are some good artists.
