I was just listening to 'Journeyman' by Eric Clapton and it struck me that it's one of his best albums despite his golden era being the '60s/'70s.
Also Bob Dylan's 'Time Out Of Mind' stands up against his earlier classic material.
I know Leonard Cohen's last few albums were favourably reviewed..
What would be your favourite late period albums by your favourite artists?

Though I still think the cover was a real disservice to the music contained inside.

Weird thing is, even by using 1962 as the beginning of his career, Journeyman falls in the first half of his career to date.

Even though some of these albums seem mid-period to me, I nominate:

    Richard Thompson's Rumor & Sigh
    Marianne Faithfull's Vagabond Heart
    Bob Dylan's Love & Theft
    Warren Zevon's Life'll Kill Ya
    Lou Reed's Magic & Loss

perhaps the magic is in the ampersand!
